You've just reminded me of the pink stockinged bloke I was in Christchurch last week ... maybe he thought he was dressed as a Roman soldier. I'm just going to have do a post on him now.
To be authentic, he needs to be very hairy and preferably covered in mud. At least that's how they looked in the summer all along the Roman Wall. Definitely the Hollywood version.
Waiting for his passport photo, no doubt. These Romans get around!
