The One That Got Away

There was something about the reflections on the water that made me take this photo when I was passing this ornamental pond.
It is quite near the sea and unfortunately, when ducklings hatch out they are seized and eaten by seagulls, so the locals tell me. However, this fine drake was one of the lucky ones, as he obviously got away with his life when he was young!

Why not visit my son Sam's blog and see the lovely photo of a duck that he took with his new camera!

  10. I never heard that before. Seagulls tend to be quite aggressive sometimes.

  24. Beautiful photo, Maggie May. The reflections on the pond create quite an interesting effect. So sad about the baby ducks, though.

I was going to add a comment to your last post, but there were so many I thought you might not notice. The sock question is one of those mysteries of life that I long to have answered! I'm like your daughter and keep unmatched socks for awhile in the hopes their mates return to the nest someday. I'll throw them out after awhile, only to have a few mates then reappear!

    Have a great weekend.
