Lonely Beach

There is not much to say about this outlet of fresh water bubbling out into the sea. All the beaches along the Bristol Channel have beaches where the tide goes out a long way. However it does move fairly rapidly.
Not sure what that little black blob was though. Any ideas?

Watery Wednesday is hosted by 2sweetnsaxy. Why not look her up?

  2. The black blob is a lesser-spotted gannet.

    Would I lie to you?

  3. Interesting shot - if the blob isn't a lesser-spotted gannet it could well be a lonely crow :)

  4. I am always intrigued with the riverlets running into the ocean. I could watch them for hours!

  5. great shot, I like the sense of movement.

And writing of moving - did your rats emigrate? Was one scratching a floor joist here early yeaterday morning. Zebbycat looked to me to investigate.

I left it some lovely rat bait in the basement. Today one has gone! - word veri = "scophs"

(Zeb safe, is away at cattery for 2 weeks as I'm away tomorrow)

  9. Super picture to tickle the imagination. The 'blob' looks like a bird. Maybe some sort of sea bird... tern, gull, skua, too far away to see clearly.

  11. Some tides move very quickly and you have to be aware of them and not get caught off guard by them. I think the little black blob is a bird caught in the rapids, making up his mind if he should get the hell out of there. He's not a seabird you see.

  13. Very interesting. I haven't seen anything like this. Looks like a bird to me too but as I know little about birds I couldn't begin to tell you which bird. :-)

  15. Great shot of the moving small waves! And the black spot must be a bird - if not, I need new glasses!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  16. Love this picture. And the blob looks like some kind of bird to me. How is it NOT getting washed a way?

  19. I love pics of the ocean. That one looks inviting with all its pebbles. The black blob? It's a little troll who got washed out to sea. He was waiting for his playmate, Pixie, but when Pixie didn't show up, the little troll fell asleep on the sand and got washed out to sea.

And since everybody knows trolls can turn themselves into black birds, this is what he will do - so he can just fly away and not drown.
    The End.

  21. I was going to say the "black blob" was a bird, but I see that David M. has gone even farther and identified its species!

I live in a land-locked area, so I love your photos of the beach. Anytime I travel, if I get near a lake or the ocean, I always make sure to visit:)

  22. Hi Maggie - Just had to pop over from Janine's at Sniffles & Smiles after your comment about how different your kitchen would be from hers. I'm throwing large rocks at mine now. I think that might be an improvement already!

    Lovely beach picture today. :)
