Sleeping Daddy

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Carissa

This is what happens in our house when a Daddy tries to have forty winks. Those naughty granddaughters stuff toy cats down his ears.
There is no peace for the wicked.

I recently posted here about a 65th Birthday celebration with Eddie Bluelights and my son, Sam, thinking that people would twigg that we were all related to each other (as I was sure that people didn't know) and I was quite amazed that this passed right over most people's heads and that they really did think that we met up by accident in a pub when we were at other individual 65th Birthday celebrations.
It was meant to be a conundrum.
Each of us left a clue on each of our posts that went out at identical times with identical pictures.
Quite funny, really, when you think of it. How amazing would that be to meet up by chance while enjoying other people's 65th Birthday meals ?
We had fun doing this as a team.
I wonder if there is anyone else who doesn't know what we are talking about?
Forgive us if you don't.

  2. WE are not as smart as we sound/appear. We need lots of cues. Love those cat earrings! My children used to weave their father's hair when he dozed off.

  3. My sister said the other night, "Who is that Maggie May and what was she doing in the restaurant attending yet another 65th birthday!" LOL ~ Eddie

  11. Like quite a few others, I thought at first that it was a huge coincidence that you happened to meet up...but as I read on I realised you must be related.

I often wonder if I'm reading blogs written by people I might already know in real life, but that they or I don't realise it.

Poor Grandad...they do have to put up with a lot!

  12. Before I forget - I keep saying "No peace for the wicked" and over here (US) they keep correcting me and saying "No peace for the weary". I knew I wasn't going mad.
Anyway .... how can anyone sleep when little babes are putting things in the ears??
And my word verification is "Wingles". How sweet.

  13. Isa 48:22 "There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked."
So Expat Mum is right, and those who correct her are not.
LOVE the cats! I'm amazed he slept through it.
And as for the relationship; it didn't even cross my mind! But I was a little confused!

  14. I am glad I was wide awake at Orso 80 in Rome for my 65th birthday...it was really weird, though, sitting there with my four friends - when a woman approached and asked, "Are you Carmen Henesy?" She said she told her fellow flight attendants, "I know that woman" when she saw my eye shadow ( I always match my clothes - my only claim to being artistic ). It seems Jennifer and I had attended the same Spanish child forensic interviewing class in Huntsville, Alabama a couple of years prior!!! Talk about a small world!

  15. This is too funny! My father-in-law used to fall asleep in his recliner, and sometimes his false teeth would fall out. The grandsons liked to tease him by stealing his teeth while he was sleeping:)

I did catch the connection between you and Eddie; sounds like your brother is a lot of fun!

  18. No wonder I was convinced senility had at last caught me out... and I am still confused. You mean it wasn't one huge coincidence...? I shall never believe a word you say again!

  24. Great gag, had us all on the back foot, seemed like a great night out and Eddie is a barrel of fun. At least the toys didn't go down too far, the mind boggles...imagine what marbles could do.

  25. Yay to dear Maggie and Eddie.

As for your dear Sam - when I was about 11 years old (and the younger daughter of 2) my dear Dad was heard to mutter "even the bloody cat's a female!"

No wonder Dad is so nice to my boy, Zebbycat!

  28. Ha Ha! Love the kitties in the ear. Kids are just so funny.

And okay, I forgive you, because I don't know what you are talking about. I'm sorry!

  29. I wonder if part of is was that folks don't necessarily know more than one of you from blogging. I certainly didn't really know Eddie (except in passing) before very recently and I sure didn't know your son at all. But your own post was clear enough to me to make the connections... eventually. :)

    LOL at Eddie's comment. ;)

Love the photo of dangling ear kitties!
