No Matter Which Bible You Might Choose.......

I don't know what you think about Bibles, whether you cherish them or whether you are not interested in them at all. The fact is, whether you believe in them or you don't, you might be interested in the trivia below, that has nothing to do with faith really.
A friend sent me a card containing the following information that I thought was fascinating. I decided that I would pass it on.

What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?

Answer: Psalm 117

What is the longest chapter in the Bible?

Answer: Psalm 119

Which chapter is in the centre of the Bible?

Answer: Psalm 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalm 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalm 118

Add these numbers up and you get 1188

What is the centre verse in the Bible?

Answer: Psalm 118 verse 8 (1188)

  1. Your collection is a Bible Library. If someone just look at it, it would create a religious desire in his/her mind. Thanks for sharing such things.

  2. Hi Maggie,
Spooky info! I wonder if the Bible was planned that way?!
I'm a great fan of Nostradamus and he often wrote about things like this... the significance of numbers...

  8. I am a Christian and therefore have Bibles around the house. I find these facts you have pointed out fascinating. It can't be a coincidence can it? I think God's hand was on the writers of the Bible.
    Bless you

  11. Hi Maggie, as I don't believe in coincidence I would say this was meant to happen. I have a few bibles, some old, some new which belong to Amy. I used to have a wonderful children's bible when I was little and I loved it to bits. I still have it somewhere.

My Grandma gave me a beautiful white leather bound bible when I was confirmed aged 10.

  14. Bibles and most religious books were written and or translated by men.
I have a friend who is a Professor of Feminist theology, she opened my eyes as to the way women have been left out, erased etc from the bible.
She is also a C of E vicarette

  16. Interesting but remember the numbering of chapters and verses is a late addition to the text.
