Decisions!

Weekend Wandering comes in very handy sometimes, giving me a helping hand in choosing a theme for a post. This week, David asked "What Is The Best Decision You Ever Made?"

I was really stumped with this one and wondered whether to leave it this week! However, I decided to start the post in the hope that something would jump out of the key board!
Well, my thoughts on the subject are probably what every one else will say, the day I said "Yes" to Harry! Hopefully no one else said "Yes" to him! But you know what I mean. The decision to marry someone, hopefully is the best decision you will ever make.

I often wonder what it would have been like if I hadn't have said "Yes." My family would be non existent & my life would be what? I don't know! Anyway........ I'm really glad I did say "Yes."
This year we will celebrate our forty fifth anniversary!

However, there are other important things that I have done. I have already written in a post about my faith, that I was baptized after being converted to Christianity at forty one years of age by total immersion. That was a fairly profound thing to do and it has certainly changed my life for the better and not only in this life but the next too.

On a lighter note...... when my son told me that he was buying me a computer eight years ago, I told him I would not be at all able to cope with it & had no interest in one what so ever. As usual, he took no notice and bought one any way on one of his visits home from Japan. It was a pink iMac, a strange shaped one quite unlike the flat screened one I have today. I had one week to learn to email and before that I had never even switched a computer on. I was a bit scared of it at first but later progressed to web cams and had chats with the grand daughters when they eventually came into the world. This really did open up my life to family on the other side of the globe.
Well the rest you know. That first computer led the way to the blogging and that has opened up new horizons too! However, I did have to make a decision to use the computer and not send it back. I am really pleased that I made the decision to keep it, now.

The pink iMac is still going strong, but was not fast enough for web cams or blogging, so the girls watch CDs and play games on it. I will always have a soft spot for it though.

Well........ how do I choose the most important decision I ever made. I want to say husband & family. I will definitely not say the computer! Because these things are transient & will pass away or break down ........... sorry Harry and family..... it has to be my trust and faith in Jesus because that will be for ever!

Oh, that was such a lovely post. And over here Mother's Day has just past. So a slightly belated happy Mother's Day to you, 'cause you are one very special mum! :)

yes a very happy Mother's Day to you Maggie! It was weeks ago over here. I think the best decision I ever made was to start writing - but come to think of it I've always written! Ever since I could write. I'm not making sense am I?!!

I am a bit surprised that blogging (and even web-cams) need fast computers, although, I am always surprised by technical stuff. But wait till I tell El Engineer out in Australia what you said about your pink iMac. He is Mackintosh through and through and is forever rubbishing what he refers to as "Gatesy's microsoft products."
I can't wait. ;-)

Really enjoyed that post - and the sight of your pink iMac.

To your son - Well done, Sam. We are so fortunate to have your mother in our presence. It might not have happened without your decision to buy that computer!

Maggie, this is a wonderful post. (I think you would like the one I posted last night). Without your faith, the rest of your life might not be what it is now.

And thank goodness for the pink iMac. What would we do without you??

Peace - D

I think it's great that you have a range of good decisions from which to make your choice and I admire the reasoning behind your final decision. Interesting post, as always.

Flowerpot .......... I have always written too. used to keep diaries & write stories...... i can feel a possible post coming on here!

Stinking Billy......... What do you mean! I am what some people would call a "Mac Evangelist!" Every one in our house knows that they are the best & we all use them. I didn't say they were no good. We now have a speedier version of the same! That's all!

David ....... thanks for you very kind comments. As for Sam .......he is in the process of writing another post! he says its about me! Better be kind & complimentary or they will be in big trouble!

That was beautiful. I'm happy that you have your family and your faith, of course, but I'm quite grateful that you got that cute little pink iMac so you could start blogging.

I don't think I've ever seen a pink computer!

Oh My Gosh! 45th??? That is incredibly amazing, as I'm sure you know! I hope you have a great party!

And that iMAC is pretty. I remember when I gave my mom my old computer. She had no idea what to do with it either and said she would never use it. I took it West Virginia, set it up for her, showed her some things, and she is now on her 3rd computer and I swear that is ALL she does! She does the church bulletin on it, the Nursing News Letter, and surfs the web constantly. She amazes me with that thing and she will be 70, this year or next, not sure.

RC.... HI! I am pleased to see you over here! Thanks for the lovely comments & yes, the pink computer is fairly rare. They did it in purple and in turquoise too.

Bina ..... just proves that we oldies can get the hang of things eventually!

Maggie, re my bunny post. It wasn't a real waxing. He just had poo stuck on the fur around his bottom and the only way to get rid of it was for the vet to shave his bum! (just incase you thought I was being cruel or something)

Congratulations on having been married 45 years. I hope you never had any regrets. I can only be happy that you've started blogging and have you present here amongst us. That is a treat indeed. I think the best thing I ever did was have my kids, that is a thing I never regretted, although it came with heartache.

Great post MM. I love your brief description of the immersion baptism and would be fascinated to hear more about your experience. I remember my mother who was very religious telling me that when she felt Jesus enter her life it was as if she was drinking a large glass of very cold water...

Good decision, well thought out. That would be my choice too. Flick x

:) Saying, "Yes" to my hubby was the first thought that popped into my head when I started reading. 45 years is a remarkable achievement in these times you are to be congratulated.

Happy Mothers' Day a bit late! My best decision was definitely to marry Otto. We will celebrate our 67th wedding anniversary in August.

I thinke we are going to ignore my mother also and buy her a computer for her birthday. I hope afterward she will still speak to us.

It is amazing when you realise just how much comes from making one decision. A whole family brought into the world and a new generations to show for it. Lovely post.

This was a great post. I love all the decisions you made. First, your marriage. Forty five years? Congratulations. Having only made it to #10, I can only imagine what it would be to make it to #45! Second, your faith. I think it's wonderful that you have something you believe in that gives you strength and support when you need it. And third, (your son's) decision to buy you a computer... for without that decision, I wouldn't have met you!

Excellent post. Glad you didn't decide to skip this one.

Hi Maggie, congratulations on your 45th anniversary! You have obviously made some great decision in your life. Years ago if I hadn't decided to pop into to town on my day off, I would never have met my husband and never moved to France. Definately one of my better decisions!

Thanks Crystal, Carolyn and Debra for kind comments.
