Since my last post, there has been an improvement in the weather. The Ceanothus at the bottom of the garden has come out in glorious array, giving off a very heady aroma which attracts many bees and hover flies. The warmer, drier weather must have reminded it of its original warmer climate in California because flowering seems to have been delayed this year until now.
Also since the last post, I haven't been troubled by the gas smell. Fingers crossed that it won't come back, whatever it was. I had some useful replies left in my comments and I particularly liked the idea of a gas burp.
Over the last week I have been on a couple of day trips because Harry was feeling well enough to be left on his own. However, his next chemo starts again next week. It soon seems to come round. This is supposed to be the last one....... number 10. It is a lot for any human body to endure. He is very brave.
I have been out on the garden the past few days and have managed chop back some of the appropriate shrubs and do some weeding and tidying up, so I am fairly pleased that my back stood up to the test. I do little and often. Long may this good weather last. I was a bit dismayed to realise that the longest day is now over.

10 chemo sessions is a lot for any human to endure, Harry really is very brave. x

I'm happy for your two day trips and hope you get more of them during the summer. July and August are my two least favorite months because here in the humid southeastern USA (Georgia) a person gets inclined to stay inside in the air conditioning. After a few days of that, I'm more than ready for a day trip. Glad to see that Harry has had some better days, too.
We've had our warm weather and now it's back to cooler days and cloudy skies. I don't really mind it all that much if it's cool, but I would like to see more of the sun.
I am glad that you are able to work in your garden because I always found it a very satisfying job. It's good for the soul.
Does Harry sit outside in it at all?

It is so lovely to see a bit of sun Maggie!
I echo the satisfaction of getting a bit of weeding done, and tidying up, though I tend to go mad with shears when I get out there!
Hope Harry feels better soon, it is a lot to endure, for both of you.

The Ceanothus is lovely! I had no idea what this plant was so I looked it up--California lilac, something new to me! Glad the weather has brightened up for you, and you've gotten a chance to get out in your garden for awhile.
Harry has certainly endured so much; hope there is some positive news after this last round.
He is indeed a brave man. May it always be so.

It's as well that you garden "little and often" as our summer weather is not very dependable again this year. Hope you enjoy plenty of days out before the winter sets in and wish Harry all the very best with his last chemo and with his recovery. A x
