The Village Wedding

Anyone who's visited my home over the last six months will be able to now say, "Well, thank Goodness you've got that done at long last."It has taken me all of that time to complete this 1000 piece jigsaw. I did have a good rest from it over the summer but family and friends have seen it lurking about in the front room (lounge) in various stages of being put together, but definitely incomplete.
I was quite inspired by the figures inside the picture but what was so difficult was the large volume of sky and the country path that are not seen in the photo as I sort of zoomed in a bit on the centre.
In case anyone is wondering, the original picture was painted by Sir Samuel Luke Fildes (1843-1927). I must admit that I'd never heard of him but it's the kind of picture that appeals to me.

I am grateful for the way that I can get absorbed in a jigsaw the same way as I can read a book, tackle an easy crossword or a do simple sudoko but I think the jigsaw is more creative and meditative.
I must admit that I do shut myself into the front room quite often. How people can live in a small flat or house with their *other half* around them all the time, I shall never know. All I can say is that you're a better person than I am if you can do that.
Do you like to live in each other's pockets or do you like to spread out? What type of person are you?

MY WIFE and I have had separate beds and separate bedrooms for our entire married life. I think it is one of the reasons for the two of us having such a marvelously happy and successful marriage. We can always get together for married joy when we want, of course, but otherwise we can stretch out, not worry about anyone else hogging a blanket, keep the window open (or shut) when the other person has it open (or shut) in their room, I can smoke, she can sleep with the TV on, etc.

Wow, lovely puzzle. I've been thinking I should start one and work on it before bedtime. Been watching to much Netflix at night and it gets into my dreams. A puzzle might be better.

Haven't done a jigsaw puzzle for ages, probably not since YoungerSon had a 3D puzzle of the Starship Enterprise when he was about 12! That was quite a challenge, I can tell you!
I've lived by myself for 6 years now, and I like it. I can do whatever I want when I want. And when I had a partner living with me, we stayed well out of each other's way most of the time.

Congratulations. 1,000 pieces is about my limit. For some reason I stopped. You have me inspired!

I love doing jigsaws and we bought more than a dozen of them on sale shortly before the move here, in hopes of having time and space to do them. The cats think otherwise of allowing us an undisturbed space. They love batting the pieces around. ;)

As for our living arrangements, they're much like Suldog described. We need our our space and we each have that.

And I was remiss in expressing how impressive it is that you have completed a 1000 piece puzzle on your own despite a busy summer. It's a lovely image. Good for you.

Congrats on finishing this, Maggie! I do like the painting, too. I have never had the patience to do jigsaw puzzles, and if I left one out all winter, the cats or one of the dogs, not to mention a grandchild, would surely knock it over.

My husband has been home all the time for two years now, after a fall at work that has kept him from working. No, 24/7 doesn't work for me, which is why I spend so much time in the garden:)

We have been together at home just about 24/7 since 1981. The first several months were a little hard, but we "settled in" to our routines (we each have separate office spaces)and it has worked out quite well. My mother used to do jigsaw puzzles and got the grandchildren involved with her and it was a special time for them to interact and enjoy each other's company

WhenI was married, we had time together but definitely also time apart. I'm an introvert and need my alone time!

The jigsaw looks beautiful, Maggie, well done on completing it. I bought a lovely one many years ago and started it but it was just too difficult and I gave up! It think it was around 1,000 pieces.

I much prefer living in my own space (obviously with Amy). When I lived at the farm, the farmer and I lived and worked together (24/7) and we did that for 13 years. There were many times I was absolutely tearing my hair out, especially when writing my books only to have him need me for something quite trivial. As you know, those times became far too often and in the end the space I craved got less and less as I seemed to be expected to be at his beck and call every time he clicked his fingers - but that's another story, for another time. So yes, I need my space and even though I'm still only mid-forties, I honestly don't wish to live with another man for as long as I live!

Well done - great achievement! My sister brought a jigsaw round for me when she last visited. Not sure if I'm going to do it though.

Hi Maggie, I haven't been around Blogger for such a long time, and just now had a quick read of your last few posts.
Hope things settle into a manageable new routine for you; it is a hard time.
Just thought I'd let you know you're in my thoughts. Mx

I have seen that picture on cards I think. A lovely subject for a jigsaw. I have been thinking of starting one and now autumn is with us it is probably the perfect time. Well done on finishing in 6 months, I may well take longer! A x
