Cabin Fever?

After a wet start this morning, it has turned sunny and I was really looking forward to going out as it is my afternoon off when Harry's helper comes to sit with him for a few hours.
However, he rang in sick today so I won't be going out for any length of time after all. This will be the third week of not having the helper, as Christmas Day and New Years Day both happened to be on a Thursday when he wasn't working.
When it's teaming with rain I don't seem to worry. It seems cosy in the house. I get on with my jigsaws, books and other hobbies. However, as soon as the sun starts to shine, I feel really pent up and wish I could get out, stretch my legs and feel the sun on my face.
Well why can't I do that anyway, you may ask?
The simple answer is that Harry has no sense of danger. He acts rather like a naughty child when I'm gone and puts himself in dangerous situations where he would need help to make himself safer. He begs and pleads and assures me that he won't do it again. However, he can't seem to learn by unwise consequences of his actions, so I guess it will always be like this. I can't trust him enough to leave him on his own for more than an hour and even then, he gets into some dangerous situations.

We'er still waiting for the hospital to get in touch with us about his forthcoming tests and possible operation for a shunt but it doesn't seem to be going to happen any time soon.
That's the way it is with our National Health over here. No good getting in a stew about it.
Trouble is, our body clocks are ticking by.......

In the meantime I must be content with my hobbies and try not to get irritable and impatient.

Oh my, waiting to hear from doctors is a terrible wait indeed. Hope things work out, and that the weather cooperates as well.

It seems such a shame to be kept indoors on one of the very rare sunny afternoons in January doesn't it? My thoughts are with you. And waiting for doctors to find time for you is such a pain, I'm doing the same thing right now.

God bless you, Maggie. There is nothing I hate more than waiting to hear from someone regarding something very important. I'll say a prayer for you.

How frustrating it must be to have to wait on the doctors, yet it's much the same with our health care system. And I know you must be anxious to get out of the house for awhile--hope your respite worker makes it this week. I have been watching episodes of "Doc Martin" on Netflix; have you ever seen it? Not sure what channel it might be on in the UK, but I really like it. He very brusque, but if anyone has an emergency, he's off immediately with his bag--too bad we don't still have some doctors like this around.

It must be awfully frustrating to wait for important results. My heart goes out to you and Harry.

You have two lovely puzzles there. You find such pretty subjects to do.

Wow, I'm sorry. I hate waiting and I can't imagine how hard it must be not to be able to get out on your own.

I use the term "cabined up!" We have a phrase "Are we in for the night now?" which means we shut the gates, bring the coal in and know we are not going out. I tend to get the housework out of the way after the morning walk on the beach and then settle down to read or use my laptop to visit the lovely friends I have made through the internet. I am going to get into a hobby in 2015 and have been impressed with a site called Wee Folk Art. Sorry to hear about the carer not coming round, such a disappointment.

It must be frustrating not being able to go out for 3 Thursdays in a row. Good luck for next Thursday! You're being admirably patient :-)

I hope that Harry's helper comes tomorrow and you are able to enjoy a well deserved afternoon off.

A little late but HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Hope you don't have to wait much longer to hear from the docs and hopefully Harry's sitter will be available soon so you can get out for a few hours. xx
