I really don't know what to write about but I know that I need to update my blog.
With all the news and the state of the world today, I feel a bit like a dried out cactus or succulent! Finding something positive to say.......
We're now having a mini heat wave in my area which makes a really lovely change. Not sure how long it will last but enjoying it today.
This week the schools will be breaking up for the summer and my role as a breakfast provider for my granddaughter will come to an end after doing it for years. I can't believe that seven years has gone by from the time that the youngest started in Reception class but I was doing my grannie bit long before then. Now I must fill the gap with something else!
What do other grannies do with their time, when their grandchildren flee the nest?
One other thing..... I'm now dropping using the Maggie signature that I've used for years (that I quite liked) because apparently it compromises my security. (It obviously wasn't even my real signature). Oh well the end of another era!

Not sure it can compromise your security if it's not your real signature, but better safe than sorry I suppose. What a shame.
It's the end of one phase and the beginning of something else. Volunteer work has helped me to have purpose. You'll find what makes you happy too.
Time to drop in the library and look for a group that needs help now and then. I'm sure there are places where volunteers are needed. Your local school, for sure, can use all the extra help they can get. Good luck.
Think about who you were before kids and grandkids and talk to her. Volunteering is good. As long as it "speaks" to you. My library stints brighten my life.

Oh, the technology! Thanks for this post. It's good to visit after a very long time.
have a nice summer
Children grow up so fast, don't they? There ought to be a law against it, so you could savour them for a lot longer. I am sure your granny role will morph into something else....how's abvut Volunteering for charity shops, taking up a new hobby,or learning a foreign language and planning a holiday there (with the grandchildren.
I am breakfast provider for my 8-year-old grandson. Every weekday he comes in and "orders," usually bacon and buttered toast. Seeing him in the mornings is such a part of my day that I will miss it when he outgrows his trip to Mema's house. So, I know what you mean about that particular change in the rhythm of your life. I'll be interested to see if you write about how it affects you and the new direction you take.
Oh, I hear you. The last grandkid just turned 13 and I am not on call any more. I volunteer where i think I am needed and where I am interested. You meet great people that way and feel good to be useful. However, do be tough enough to say 'no' to stuff you do not want. I am now a treasurer in an organization and I should have said no, fast, and run like hell.
I hear you about the state of the world just now. We live across the border from a nation that seems to be going nuts. Not a happy feeling.
Sorry about your loss of your signature. I liked it.
Things will look up. They always do. In the meantime I have a wild turkey stalking around behind the house and the drought has broken so I can get some plants into the soil. One the turkey moves on. They eat anything.
Hugs,
m
I won't have all the kids out of the house for many years yet, so I can't even wrap my mind around grown grandchildren.
How does a pretend signature compromise security?
Technology sure is a mixture of good and bad.
I have little doubt that you'll find something interesting and rewarding to do with that new-found time. I'm just hoping you'll document it on your blog so that we can all share in your stories.
I'm still in my grandmother duties, doing the occasional babysitting and chauffeuring the grandkids here and there, though since my husband has retired he's been doing more of it than I. I only wish my youngest grandson--and soon-to-be granddaughter!--lived closer, so that I could help out there. Volunteering sounds like an excellent idea. I do a lot of volunteer gardening, including at a local nursing home, and find it very rewarding. A friend of mine rocks babies at a crisis nursery center. I'm sure you will find something that you will enjoy.
I have a number of Nana duties, as I have 4 grandies 8 and under, but I try to keep lots of other activities an the go.... volunteering at the theatre, line dancing, art groupat yous etc. Always something to do.
Very strange about the signature being a security risk, as its not actually yours!
I have been away from blogging for longer than I like. Those end of era times are hard. You are fortunate that you have these times with your grandchildren. I never lived close enough to mine to have such times. I do hate seeing them grow up. Treasure each of the days with them that you have.
I liked your signature too. Too bad it was not secure.
Still have some grandkid time but most of them are getting to old and learning to live their own lives which is what they are supposed to do. Trying to figure out what to do instead isn't easy especially if being with our families is the most of what we do. Hugs to you.
