Ash and my Birthday

Photos Copyright: Maggie May

You can see that Ash is getting tamer as he now lets other people pick him up and stays still for longer. He has brown eyes but the camera caught his retina and made it look red.
Some people asked why we picked his name.
My daughter and I liked it. My grandsons inform me that the name Ash is the second most popular character in Pokemon and also the bunny must have been born around the time of the volcanic ash and the air problems. So it is a mixture of all those reasons really. Mainly because we liked the name.

I bought a large run for him to exercise in. I used some Birthday money. It was a one off thing putting him straight onto the carpet. I have plastic to go over it now. I learned quickly that I needed to do that.

Ash is enjoying that box and is supposed to use his blue toilet tray that you see in this picture for wees.
I think he is having a bit of a laugh as he uses that for sleeping in. I did put soiled sawdust in there from his cage, just like the book suggested. I reckon Ash needs to read the book!

I expect you remember on my Birthday last month, Harry and I were both quite ill and I never did get to write about it.
Sam bought me an alto recorder but then I went and cut my little finger and I still can't press onto the notes with that finger. I did want to learn and it is one of my *to do* things before I die. However not in the same room as Ash as he is totally freaked out by high pitched squeaky noises.
Lucky that we have a large house.

I also received lovely things for the garden and in the picture below you will see that I had a total surprise of a pretty mobile that my friend/neighbour made for me out of glass and lead.
I have had several wild birds commit suicide by flying into that window, so I do put butterfly stickers against the glass to try and stop them doing this. The mobile is just perfect for that purpose, as well as looking very pretty.
So you will see that I did very well indeed, apart from being too ill to celebrate the actual day or even week.

Well, I'm glad that you are going to help save these kamikaze birds!!! I wonder if your rabbit will reach 25 pounds like mine did!
He lived nearly five years, then escaped his pen one day and our our dog caught him! Very sad ending.

Ash is beautiful!

I love all the pretty garden things and adore the glass mobile. I have lots of crystals and glass mobiles hanging in all my windows. Don't they make beautiful rainbows on the walls when the sun shines? :)

I thonk you might find that Ash can be "toilet trained". He is a little sweetie.

Si happy for you that you can now enjoy your birthday treasures. The mobile is so beautiful.

The only bird our family cat ( obsessively territorial to allm 4 legged beings) ever "caught" was a wee sparrow that stunned itself on a window.

Do have a special birthday celebration now, Michelle and Zebbycat, xxxx and purrrrumbling from us

Happy Belated Birthday, Maggy. I suppose you can consider Ash to be one of your birthday presents too, can't you? He's your birthday rabbit. He sure is cute. I'd love to hold the little guy. I'm glad he finds interest in the things you give him to play with.

The glass mobile is very pretty and it was nice of your friend to make it for you. Good for the birds too, to know they shouldn't fly in that direction. I love the mushrooms in your flower pot.

Hugs!

A colleague at work had his pet rebbit sleep on his chest every night when he too dozed in his recliner. They make great house pets so no doubt you will get lots of love from Ash. just what you need after such a harrowing time. Your next birthday will be a belter!

Sounds like you are now able to enjoy your birthday, even if it's a little belated! Beautiful bunny! And I love all the prettiness in your garden. I really, really want to get my yard looking good. My allergies make it a bit difficult.

Oh I just love your whimsical garden! Lucky you to receive such nice gifts, especially after feeling so ill. It's time to celebrate! I hope you and hubby have fully recovered.

Happy Birthday! I think little Ash is just the sweetest bunny.

I've always wanted to learn to play the flute - well not always, but just these last few years, so I can relate to you wanting to learn the recorder.

A belated Happy Birthday, Maggie! I love the mobile; what a pretty way to discourage the birds from flying into the window.

Ash is such a cutie! You were smart to buy him a run so he could get some exercise. When we had Daughter's rabbit, he lived in such a tiny cage I would let him out for some time each day, and he had the run of the house. Big mistake! I used to describe the way he ran about as "hop hop poop hop poop poop...":) Supposedly, rabbits can be littered trained, but we never succeeded; hope you have better luck.

Hi Maggie,
I am glad to have caught up with your last three posts, my husband and I were fishing last weekend and I got behind with a lot of things. But it was a fun way to fall behind!

It sounds like you had a good birthday, and Ash looks like a wonderful pet. He's very handsome!
I like your rasta hat, too!

Blessings!

Hi, I have been meaning to come and read your blog and now I will read it regularly. What a darling bunny for a pet. We raised rabbits when I was quite young but they were all white. Your Ash is a beautiful color. How old is he?
