Seeing Double

Photo Copyright: Maggie May

Last week, I had a very pleasant surprise.
Harry was on his way back from a bit of shopping and he noticed something sticking out from behind our bin in the front garden.
It was a package from across the pond.
I had been expecting it, and couldn't understand why the postman had left it outside when we were all in the house. Luckily it was not raining.

This beautiful painting from one of my blogging pals, who happens to be an artist..... was taken with my permission from a photo I put in an earlier post.
I am talking about Clare Dunn.

At the time that I received the package, I had all my family here, daughter and grandsons, son and granddaughters and they all thought the painting is extremely good and sooner or later I will get a little frame and hang it in a very special place.
I am over joyed to receive such a lovely piece of work and very much appreciate this kindness and generosity.

I would be interested to hear what colour frame/border you think would be best?

Clare is apparently a very good artist! I love the colors and how she focuses on the flowers in the painting. I'm sorry that I can't help with the framing color. I'm not very good at picking out my own.

What a lovely gift and done so nicely. I think I'd pick out the lower portion lattice colouring in the painting and go with a natural, warm, golden wood frame (like oak).

A very thoughtful gift.

Thanks for visiting Shooting Parrots. For an explanation of the title, go here.

Clare did a great job. I know you will find a perfect spot for the painting. I would want to see it often. I would use white for a frame. I don't usually use white but the painting is so colorful I would want a white or beige frame with clean lines.

How lovely; what a personal picture. I'd take it to a framer's and ask their advice re mounts and frames. Then hang it somewhere you'll see it to cheer you up!

Hello, Maggie!

You are so very welcome! I am happy that the painting arrived safely, and very flattered that you like it.

I apologize again for not sending it to you already framed, and yet I am glad that you will have the pleasure of choosing it's enclosure for yourself. I like the ideas Hilary and TechnoBabe have come up with! You may have a difficult time deciding!

Thanks so much for this post, and your kind words. You are a very special lady, and I'm sure "Maggie's English Garden" will shine in your care.

My Best Wishes go out to you...

Oooh, how gorgeous. Yes, definitely take it along with you and match it up with various frame choices. You'll know as soon as you see the one that fits.

Oh it's beautiful! I agree with Working Mum - take it to a framer and ask their opinion on a frame.

That is absolutely beautiful. I can appreciate today more than ever, since I tried to do a painting of my own garden and failed miserably. I think I'd get a frame in that paleish dull green to stick with the garden theme.

How very kind of Clare - she has a heart of gold. The painting is beautiful and I expect you will choose a special place to hang it when you frame it. I have some picture frame which might be good and I will show you next time we meet. Love ~ Eddie x

How beautiful and thoughtful!

I'm not good at picking out frames... I would take it to the shop and let someone help you.

Thank you for telling me about this!

Love to you,
Joey

It was a kind thing of her to do, no doubt. Hopefully you will find a frame to suit it without having to spend a fortune on it. The original photograph is very inspirational.

This is truly a wonderful gift, no matter the color of the frame.

What a great gift and a joyful painting. If I were framing it I pick something the color of whatever that is that shows at the bottom of the painting in your picture, the reddish brown. It looks good with the painting. Whatever you chose you'll enjoy probably smile every time you see it.

Hi Maggie. I've had more than a difficult time getting here. I've been to your blog, but I couldn't get to the "comment" section. I growled...but that didn't do any good either! :))
I continued to come back (after sending a report to Microsoft)...lotta good that'll do, eh? :))
Hello, my friend. Your surprise gift is a lovely one. I'm afraid I won't be much (if any) help at all in selecting matte or frame colors to choose.
How are you and your sweet hubby? I do hope that you are feeling better each and every day.
I feel a wonderful change in the temperature....slight....but wonderful. I do feel that autumn will be here soon....but not soon enough for me.
Much love to you, Maggie.
Always,
Jackie

Love the painting, Maggie! As to what kind of frame -I have no clue there as I'm totally out of my element in that department. Although, I did like Technobabe's suggestion and did think of that myself but mainly because white or a beige type frame I think would be easier to mix & match that picture then to go with other items in your home.

Maggie, it's beautiful.
I agree with Expat Mum, that you'll know when you see the colour against the picture.
Whatever you choose, and wherever you hang it, it is beautiful and will remind you of a very kind friend, and that does one's heart good.

What a wonderful surprise and such a thoughtful gesture on Clare's part! She is certainly a talented artist. I'm afraid you'll never receive such a gift from me unless you're fond of stick figures, about the only thing I can draw:) I'm also not very good about picking out frames, though I like the idea of white or a lighter color to accent the darker hues of the painting. This will look lovely hanging in your living room!

It is a beautiful and thoughtful gift! I'm with those who would take it to a framer. I always take the photos I want to frame to the store, so I can actually see them in different "surroundings." I am sometimes surprised at what I choose!

That is a beautiful painting and a wonderful thing to receive in the post! As for frame, I would either look for a red frame (or paint a wooden frame red) to match the tulips or go for a white frame to match the table. My third choice would be a wooden frame (light wood) as I think wooden frames always complement nature paintings.
