The Amazing Chair

Photos Copyright: Maggie May

Harry is now the proud owner of an electric chair! As I know people from the USA read this blog, I don't mean literally *an electric chair* as in execution! This is an electrically operated chair that can let him lie flat, sit upright or get to standing position just by the touch of a button. It is brilliant and was generously given to him by a friend, Sue, whose mother died last year. We are really grateful to her and it will be a tremendous help to Harry. The grand daughters love it too, on the rare occasions when they are allowed a ride!

My soppy husband, who is a real rough diamond and who has spent all of his working life on a building site, has never missed sending me a Valentine's card. How many women who have been married almost 49 years, could say that? I wonder when he sneaked out to buy it?

Karen, who lives a few doors away, called round for a *catching up* chat and brought round these lovely daffodils and when they have finished flowering in the house, they can be potted in a tub in the garden.
Aren't people amazingly kind?

The electric chair looks like fun!

I received an equally soppy card from my husband but then we have not been married nearly as long as you and Harry.

Beautiful card from Harry.
And I'm so glad he has the electrical chair that will help him. Thanks to Sue for such a wonderful and thoughtful gift.
Karen knows that flowers that can be replanted are a perfect gift too.
You are surrounded by love!!
I send you a special hug on this Valentine's Day...

My kids used to love test driving those in the furniture stores!
Daffs are lovely, Maggie, and will give pleasure for years to come: I like things like that.
You've some kind friends, but that doesn't surprise me, cos you're so kind yourself.

I'm not much of a commenter and haven't done so in such a long time. You are so blessed to have such a wonderful Valentine and he is equally blessed to have you. We have one of those chairs in my family, it was my grandads, then my fathers and is now my mothers. When I visit my mother, after she has gone to bed, I love to use it. I think they are one of really a terrific invention and I hope it really helps Harry.

My mum has an electric chair and they are very comfortable!
How lovely that your husband always sends a Valentine. We have been married for 2 years in June and my husband's stance is "married people don't need to send them." But he then asked me where his was!

My father had one of those chairs - I swear he never left it in 10 years.

p.s. I hate these new word verifications. just saying.....

Those chairs are wonderful - so glad Harry has one.
And my husband is devestated that I had no card yesterday. First time ever. But not even an electric chair could get him in and out of a shop just now.
Hugs!

I think it's lovely that he still sends a valentine card; I find it so sad when friends say they don't bother anymore.

I got heart shaped mashed potatoes for tea. What more could you ask?

I love that chair! That would be the perfect chair for me now, dealing with the illness that I am battling. I chuckle when I think of your sweet grandchildren, enjoying the ride! I do believe my teens would do the same thing!

The card is beautiful and so romantic. You have yourself a keeper there, but I suspect you know that. Just a very kind, loving and wonderful man.

I love the flowers too. The perfect gift for you. I love kindness, plain and simple. Friends can do the sweetest most thoughtful things, that can truly make our days.
I hope you have a very special day today.

You must have figured out long ago that Harry is a keeper! Forty nine years is a long time to be loved by someone who still remembers the little things.

Passing around chairs and other items that people can use is remembering we all share the same air.

The friend who passed along the chair to Harry and the neighbor who brought the daffodils are examples to us all. I am so happy for you and Harry to know the kindness of others.

How sweet of your husband; I'm amazed and impressed that he's never missed a Valentine's Day in all these years!

How nice of your friend Sue, as well, to pass along the lift chair (that's what we call them here). My grandfather had one of these for many years because of his arthritis; it really was a godsend.

There are so many blessings in the midst of life's trials and tribulations, dear Maggie. How wonderful that this magic chair is making a difference for Harry. What a thoughtful friend.

Also, you are blessed with a husband who has never missed a Valentine's day. I was just listening to a neighbor here in India lament that, after 35 years of marriage, they don't bother with Valentine's. I am still a romantic and I actually had a very special Valentine's day here in India...

Glad you have daffodils..aren't they beautiful, cheery flowers?
