All over Bristol there are colourful Gromits hiding in secret paces and this is just one of them.
Surely there isn't anyone alive who has never heard of Wallace and Gromit?
Bristolians' are very proud of these characters, who appear in animated films, because they originated here in this city.
This project is all in aid of charity and the Bristol Children's Hospital will benefit from the proceeds of the kind people who sponsored and painted them and the eventual auctioning of these beautiful creations.
Last year we had gorillas everywhere and it is such fun for families to go on The Trail to find them.
Would you believe that two of the Gromits were vandalised on the very same day that they were put on show and are being repaired right now.
Who would do such a thing and why?

This is absolutely beautiful, and I would love to be on the hunt for them. Regarding vandals that do such things: disgust is what I feel for what they have done. They have no respect for people or property, and I have no sympathies for them should they get caught and properly punished.
Love this, Maggie...
Hugs and love,
Jackie
Oh aren't they lovely? I want one! Manchester did a similar thing a few years ago but with cows and they were for sale, are the Gromit's for sale? Vandals are mindless so who knows why they did it! :(
oh those are awesome....we had crabs like that when i lived in maryland....they are so cool to find and see what the artist did with them...so sad on the ones vandalized...
I'm always astonished at the level of anger vandals display especially against beautiful creations like these. I'd love me a gromit!!

So colourful and what a lovely idea to raise awareness of charity.
To think they've been vandalled doesn't actually surprise me at all; people can be so callous these days and don't think how their actions might affect others.

I love Grommit, can't imagine how anyone could vandalize him. Pathetic. Our town had a similar event with 3 foot tall eggs, love to see all the imagination people put out.
That's very sad and I can't imagine the gall it would take to do such a thing. You must be very far sunk for that. I would love to hunt down all the Grommits and take photos of them and I am sure you will try your very best. I hope you enjoy the process.
When I was a school principal, and discovered vandals had invaded the school and left their marks, it was never those we expected. Many times, good kids went wild; joined up with the misfits and ransacked a place without much thought. Yep; sometimes people go back to the wild jungle.
He is wonderful...and a pox on the3 vandals.
That is awful

How cute. And I don't understand the urge to vandalize anything.
It's totally baffling what people do nowadays. It's as if a whole generation is growing up without morals or a conscience. If it's not wanton vandalism it's thieves coolly making off with charity collection dogs.
So delightful! Kids must love seeing these around town.
As for the vandals, I've never understood their motives; what possible satisfaction can they get from destroying something beautiful?
I saw them on the news the other night Maggie, aren't they great:-)
Oh! That GROMMIT!
I was expecting to see those things kids used to have inserted in their ears. (Not sure they do that any more.)
I'm very shyly raising my hand and mumbling that I've never heard of Wallace and Gromit. I guess they never made their way to Canada. Speaking of which, Toronto has similar sculptures scattered through the city.. of moose. Too bad about the vandalism.
