Hoping you all had a good Christmas. We really enjoyed ours and it seems to have gone by really quickly.
Does everyone wait until twelfth night to take down their decorations? Mine are now beginning to annoy me and I'm itching to start taking them down. At least I'll see the New Year in first.
I'm always a bit twitchy about the start of another year as I wonder what delights it has in store for us this time.
Halfway through this year, I lost an older friend to cancer and just before Christmas my long term blogging pal, Irene died of it too. I am missing both of them very much.
Does anyone make New Year Resolutions?
This morning, one of the Radio Bristol presenters said he was going to speak to everyone he met with a suitable greeting such as "Good Morning". I thought that was a pretty good idea and thought I might adopt it.
However, as I was walking out this afternoon, I realised that might not be such a good idea as I live in the city and rub shoulders with dozens of people who might think I'd gone potty. I'm going to adapt that idea a bit and speak to at least two people I don't know each day and try to be cheerful to them.
What are you going to do if you've made a New Years Resolution?

That sounds like a good plan. My prediction is you'll have a new, good friend because of it by 2016.
Happy New Year to you and yours, Maggie.
No, I never make resolutions, but I try to be optimistic. Here's hoping you have a very good year ahead!
Have a happy new year!!! Gosia from Poland
So sorry to hear about the losses of your friends this past year.
I have decided not to make any New Year's Resolutions this year. This is the first year I haven't. I'm not sure what that means...seeing as I was able to keep almost all of the ones I made for previous years.
But....I do hope and pray for a good year for all of us. I pray for mankind to be more loving and peaceful.
I send you and your sweet husband a warm hug...lots of smiles...and much love,
Jackie
I don't make resolutions as they tend to be broken.... Wishing you a healthy and happy year.
I`ve just added up how much I spend in a year on having a car... fuel, insurance, maintenance, parking etc.... and I am horrified at the total, so my resolution is not to take the car when I don`t really need it!
Happy New Year to you..... happy blogging throughout 2015.
Happy New Year Maggie. Unusually for me I don't feel like taking the decorations down ... but I suppose we will do it this weekend. I hope 2015 is good for you.
Happy New Year to you! A day late but who'se counting? I have an "intention" for 2015 to eat healthy food (mostly fruit and vegetables), control portion sizes. So early New Year's Day the husband asks "do you want anything special for dinner" and the first words out of my mouth: McDonald's hamburger and french fries. So I start again...
No resolutions here. I do some years, but not this year. I'm just hoping to live each day well.
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friends.
I hope your New Year is a good one. Cheers!
I'm so sorry to hear of your losses Maggie
Love your New Year's resolution; such a happy one.Mine is to get back to being a bit more organised and finish sorting out my lovely flat now that I am feeling properly settled back in Norwich again! Oh and to do more crafting than I did last year too!
I always make the same resolutions each year--lose weight, exercise more, etc. I never keep them, so I much prefer the radio announcer's idea--not only would this be easier, but it would make everyone else's day a little brighter! My resolution for today is to take down the Christmas tree. We're going to visit our daughter next week, and I don't want to come home mid-January to that chore:) Wishing you health and happiness in this New Year, Maggie!
I planned to take my decorations down today and then just didn't get around to it. It may not be until next weekend.
I love this idea. I find that I have resting bi*ch face so most people don't talk to me. Maybe if I would smile more and make conversations it would be better.
I'm still trying to catch up since my return a month ago from India. Trying to stay warm, too. My aching joints don't like the near freezing temperatures at all and I do miss my $7/hour massages. I usually don't ever get one at home but hold off till I'm back in India.
Christmas was fun with my sweet little granddaughter, now 20 months. She is amazingly vocal and my kids are teaching her Spanish as well! She took to Nana right away after my five month absence.
It is so sad to be losing loved ones. Thus far, I have been lucky in that regard. Though my mother died at 90 on April 1, I've most of my friends and family still with me.
Hope the year to come is good to you.
Happy New Year Maggie. Your resolution sounds ideal, easy to keep and will almost certainly brighten the day of those you speak to. At the end of the year that will be approximately 730 people, depending how often you go out of course! I have made no resolutions this year but do wonder what 2015 will bring!
A xxx
Happy New Year Maggie to you and Harry.
May it be a lot kinder than 2013 and 2014.
No new years resolutions for me ~ can't keep 'em . . . . lol
Love Eddie xx
