A Pink-fleshed Apple and Bloggers Who Are Not Blogging!

I've just been to visit my son who shared an apple with me and the flesh was pinky red. It tasted halfway between being sweet and also being sour. At times it tasted either way, but was very good. He was pleased that he got two apples from a small tree that I bought him for his Birthday last June.

I was inspired to write about the lack of Blogging going on right now by Addy, one of my Blogging friends, (and I can't for the life of me get the link in my post as the way to do it has all changed since I last did one.) She may be found in my side bar under the name of Alcoholic Daze! Maybe this is why people are not Blogging so much these days.... everything is getting too difficult.
I know Google + has prevented me from commenting on some people's blogs as I really don't want to change over and some have even got different systems that also prevent me from commenting. It used to be so easy!

I started to write a blog in 2008 when my granddaughters lived with me. There was plenty of material to write about in those days because the children kept me busy with lots of amusing little episodes to share.
However, as children grow older, privacy must be respected and they really don't like being written about now, even when disguised heavily.
I suppose in those early days, I put in three posts a week and made some good blogging friends.
They were virtual of course, because we never really get to know a person this way, but never the less, when people I felt close to stopped writing over the years, I really missed them. Some of them have died, which is even worse.
There were others that came and went but generally people are not writing very much these days.

So what has happened to everyone?
is Blogging going out of fashion?

It may be but I still enjoy it! Is it the time of year? People are so busy.

Seems that way to me too. I don't write anywhere as often as I did when I began. My life is much quieter than it used to be as well. A transition I'm not sure I like but there you are.

I think Facebook took over but we are still here...

I certainly blog less, but I think it is because I have run out of steam. My main reason for originally writing the blog was to document my husband's downfall into alcoholism and the void he left when he died. Of course now things are much different and my blog has morphed into something else. Thank you for your kind words about me above. x

I have noticed the same thing, Maggie, and I think there are a myriad of reasons. I know bloggers who have become ill, died, got bored or migrated to Facebook, which has an entirely different purpose. Keep up the good work!

Yes I think many people don't blog as much, but have moved on to Facebook, Twitter etc, but I just want to stay with blogs, I haven't got time to learn the ins and outs of all those other forms of social media. And also i want to stay reasonably private, I don't want my whole life paraded on the internet for all to see. So stay with the blogging Maggie!!!!

I know that I use to do a lot more with my blog than I do now and I was working, which I am not now. I don't know how I found the time.

Things seemed to go downhill after David McMahon withdrew from blogging. It was a good time, but sadly it could not last.

Yes, some are falling off, some are facebooking or tweeting. I don't write as much as I used to, I feel perhaps I've said it all but know I haven't, that sounds idiotic doesn't it. I had to modernize my blog but a blog friend did it for me as it was too terrifying for me.

I miss the ones who have died, they had so much to contribute, politically too for some of them. I miss Irene who magnified the small but refused to listen when I said she had to stop smoking. I do stay in touch with her daughter.

Blogworld has given me so much. Keep on keeping on Maggie.

I have just gone a few weeks with no blog update which is a long time for me. Readership and commenting has gone down which makes is a little less enjoyable sometimes. I love discussions.

Hi, Maggie,

I haven't updated my blog for a long time, and I can't say why. Perhaps some activities are only for a season. But I dropped by today because Facebook put up a memory -- a blog post on which you made a comment -- and it inspired me to look in! I'm sorry you lost your Harry, and glad that you have adjusted. The knitted baby things are precious!

Blessings~

I pop in and out of Blogland every so often, but like you, find many pals AWOL. You can always email me direct if you fancy an alternative communication line.:-) ♥

I think Facebook has had a lot to do with less blogging by many people. It's so easy to write a sentence or two compared to a whole post. I have re-connected with some ex-bloggers in this way. But I still enjoy reading blogs; they're so much more personal and informative than a simple comment or two. I know I have cut back on how much I blog. When my mother became ill, I just didn't have the time, and when she passed, I didn't have as much motivation. I also seem to be busier these days than when I first started blogging after I retired--or maybe it just takes me longer to get everything done:) When I look at my blog roll on my side bar, half the people haven't blogged in a year or more--I often wonder what happened to them, especially the ones I felt like I had really become friends with. Sometimes people will write a final post, explaining why they are giving up blogging. I wish everyone would do that, but I suppose many of them don't intend to stop but just kind of drift away. Glad you are still blogging, Maggie; I always look forward to your posts. I have been wanting to travel to the UK for the past few years, and often think how wonderful it would be to meet up with some of my long-time blogging friends there. Maybe someday!!

Perhaps it is not going out of fashion...? Perhaps there are too many, blogs? And thus, people who read them, have just too, too, too many, to zip through. And perhaps, that is why so few comments are left on (many) blogs, today.

But, lucky you! You have lots of comments!!! :-)

And if bloggers have gone, I think they are now going to Instagram. I have, for a simple picture and a couple of words, about it. And it's fine, for that.

But for myself, I need to blog. Actually need to write and post pictures. Whether or not, people come by. Whether or not, they leave a comment. And no matter where I am blogging. Because I have had many blogs, over lots of years.

But that's just my story. :-)

Keep on blogging!!!!!!

Blogging fills an important need in my life (has in the past certainly)but I have had a terrible time keeping up with my blog. I find it is easier to write "short blurbs" on Facebook which don't seem important enough to put on the blog. I find I am increasingly distracted by what is going on around me to settle for a bit and write intelligent, witty, clever things in my head when I am out walking the dog and as soon as I return home it all flies away. I agree with Luna Crone! (I love that name, by the way...) We do need to keep on blogging.

Maybe one of the reasons I have trouble with the blog is that I am constantly making mistakes in my writing (like the mistakes I made in the comment I just left) and I have to keep fixing it and fixing it (oh dear, that won't do at all... I really must change that!) and tinkering some more and way way too much time has gone by.

Blogging has changed for me over the ten years I've been doing it. I wrote initially for family then went underground and wrote more anonymously about my new single life. But now that I'm married again, I find myself so insanely busy that its harder to write regularly. Still, I'm not ready to back out entirely. I find I miss everyone when I take a break from it.

Facebook has taken the place of blogging for a lot of people. I drop in now and then, but do not write posts as I used to.

Combination of things: busy life (but then, I always was busy before), daughter growing up (thinking more about what I blog about her), I also discoverd Facebook, laptop died, had a really difficult time at work, lots of things, I just decided this evening to see if anyone I knew in the Blogosphere was still out there and a few old favourites, like yourself, are. Don't know if I can muster the motivation to write my blog again. Maybe I should make it a New Year Resolution?
