Just A Lily Pool?

Photos Copyright: Maggie May

At first glance, this just looked like a fairly ordinary ornamental lily pool, fairly pleasing to the eye, but on close inspection there was something there that caught my attention.

I zoomed in and saw these tiny little ducklings enjoying the sunshine in The Winter Gardens at Weston Super Mare.

Their mum was grubbing about in the border, looking for worms.
Then I noticed the ramp that someone had placed in the pool for the ducklings to climb out of the water.

I hope this little brood manages to survive the aggressive seagulls that circle all around them.
I will go back as soon as I can and see how they are getting on.

That was a great find, Maggie May. I think I'll have to get myself a camera. Of course I say that a lot now, but @ least it means I'm going in the right direction even if I'm not already gone there.:) xxx

Terrific find, Maggie. Makes me feel like never eating a duck breast sauteed in butter and Quince jelly ever again.

Nice work, Maggie!

Sorry I've been out of the loop for so long, but do say a very big Hi to Eddie Bluelights for me.

It's been VERY busy since I wrote my last blog post - but did you know I caught up with DarylE in NYC recently?

Take care ....

Oh, yes, I hate the seagulls. The ducklings are precious. Hope they are still there.

There is something so sweet about ducklings. I want to cuddle them and hold them.

Aren't they adorable?! And kudos to the Good Samaritan who put in the ramp for them. I would love to have an "ordinary" lily pond like this...and a few baby ducklings would be nice as well:)

What wonderful photographs! You should definitely pick one of these to enter in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens contest! Really, you should.

So good to see the wee ramp placed in by a fellow human. And a beautiful spot, dear Maggie - I first came across the placename Weston Super Mare in a sixth form geography lesson......

confess I immediately thought it should be the name of some incredibly successful racing horse!

Hope Mother duck and her wee darlings are okay. Sending care and huggles to you, Harry and wee, furry Ash,

Michelle and the abundantly furry Zebby

How lovely and what a lucky find Maggie. They are so pretty and it was very kind of someone to have put a ramp there for them. As you say I hope they all survive. Next time I am in WSM I must go and have a look and see if I can see them. A x

You never manage to amaze me, Maggie Mae. I pray those babies survive!

I think God led you to them, after all He's given you the gift of "the eye" and the insight to see what everyone else might miss.
