The Thing I Was Waiting For...

Photo copyright: Maggie May

Yesterday, things went very smoothly with the daily meeting of these two rabbits, so I decided to put them in the run together and take the partition out.
I watched them very closely and they seemed to be completely accepting of each other.
Several hours later, it was time for me to go to work. What should I do? Separate these new friends who were snuggling up together, or take a chance and leave them? It would mean they'd be one hour on their own, as Harry had gone out. I decided to take the chance and leave them, as my gut feeling was that they would be alright.

I could hardly wait to get home and when I did, the rabbits seemed very close to each other and Ash looked very happy.
He still seemed to need a cuddle from me though, which greatly pleased me, as I wondered if I would be redundant now he'd found a friend.
I decided to leave them together in the run, for the night and not confine them in a cage, where they might feel restricted and fight.
Next morning they were actually licking each other and there was a real look of pleasure on their little faces.
I feel that I definitely did the right thing getting another bunny for Ash and although I now have double the expense of having Lily inoculated and at some point spayed, it will be worth it in the long run.
So, in the end, the bonding happened very quickly and easily which just shows that you can never guarantee anything with animals.

As Britain put the clocks back last weekend, we now face darker evenings which I hate. I would have liked to keep the time as it was. Even though it was dark in the mornings, I preferred it that way. What do other people think?

We haven't yet changed the clocks but we're still getting up to semi dark at 7am. I hate it too!

How wonderful that then bonding process happened as quickly as it did. You did a fine job of easing them into it, Maggie. Good for you. They're just adorable.

I prefer the longer sunlight at the end of the day too. Our time will change this coming weekend. On the bright side, the days will begin to get longer again in just about 7 weeks.

They look like friends to me! "Cute" is an over-used word, but that's what they are.
I dislike the time change, I would prefer that it was left one way or the other.

Those bunnies are just so darned cute. I'd be wanting to cuddle and pet either or both of 'em all the time.
I hate the time change -just such a bother in my opinion. What's the difference with the time changes anyway -we still have x-number of daylight hours and x-number of night hours don't we?

Congratulations on a successful bunny bonding and I'm saying that with a straight face.

I would like the clock to be put ahead one hour again. I don't like this situation at all. It gets too dark too soon in the afternoon.

You did it! Good job Maggie. You patiently waited the "children" out and now they are kindred spirits.

Darker mornings? You know I must admit I never really thought of it. I've always taken it as part of the seasons changing.

Blessings to you.

Oh they are so lovely and they have bonded really quickly which is brilliant.

I too wish we didn't have to change the clocks twice a year.

How lovely that your bunnies have become firm friends already - great decision on your part Maggie.
Don't really mind the Winter evenings but always look forward to Spring. A x

I'm so glad they are getting on so well, the bath tub trick obviously works! I agree about disliking the darker evenings. I am a lot better this year though as one of my friends permanently lent me a light box and I have that set up as soon as I get home. It is lovely and makes me feel much happier!

They look so content Maggie, well done!
I like you would rather they leave the time alone......I don't know who thought cows could tell time anyway.

YAY they've bonded! :)

There's a bill going through Parliament at the moment I think to stop the clocks being put backwards and forwards, so you may get your wish Maggie. :)

Happy Bunnies all round then Maggie :>)
I hate the dark nightsand especially since councils are saving money by not putting so many street and road lights on

Aw, so sweet! You did a great job in helping these two get used to each other, Maggie. Now they'll each always have a friend.

We don't set the clocks back until Saturday. I used to look forward to this so that I could get an "extra" hour of sleep, but now that I don't have to get up early, I really don't like the early darkness.

I don't like it when night falls earlier, because I have to drive home from work in the dark. It is nice to wake up to light though. I always like it when we round that corner at winter solstice and start to notice longer days...

Your bunnies are just precious, Maggie.

We don't change our blacks back until this weekend.

I wish they would leave the clocks alone. I would prefer if they would just let it be "natural time,"

We change our clocks on Sunday. I like it dark in the morning better!!! It just makes more sense to me.

I'm so glad the bunnies bonded. The look so very sweet together, and everyone needs a good friend! Such a sweet photo.

I've been out of the loop a bit, but I hope things are going well with you.

We get six months of daylight saving now, Maggie - and it makes SUCH a difference.

Truly an ahhhh! moment, Maggie.

Takes Milou ages to get used to the changes as he lives his life by the clock, walks, meals, cuddles. Now he has to sit around for an hour extra. an't think why we need to still do it.

How are your sweeties doing? I'm thinking of you...and them.

Awwwwww...

The bunnies are a perfect complement to each other, and it's great that they're getting along. We just bought a third dog home, and it took several days for them all to learn how to be friends. Even now, they have their moments.

And only ONE of them gets along with THE CAT.
