The Things Children Say........

Working with children and having access to grandchildren sometimes causes me to smile. Its the things they say.

Millie, my youngest Grandchild, suddenly asked me, "Granny, what is your bottom like?"
Somewhat taken aback, I quickly composed myself by saying, "Much the same as yours, only bigger."
A sudden look of mischief spread across her face and she lunged towards me in glee.
I can almost read her mind at times and as I ran away from her, I screamed, "But you're not looking!"

---------

I was wondering what to get for the evening meal not long ago and I just happened to say in front of Millie, "I wonder what to get for granddad's dinner?"

"Fruit," she suggested.

"I think he needs something more than that to get his teeth stuck into," I replied.

"What teeth," she said.

Now as far as I remember he has never taken out his teeth in front of either of the girls. Is it feminine intuition starting at an early age? Admittedly she is a bit older than she was in this photograph, but is only just four years old!

-----------

At Church this morning our Minister was trying to illustrate a point by asking the children in the congregation, "What did you learn at school last week?"
A bright young boy of about seven years old replied, "We learned that the school was closed." (Because of snow.)

The bottom one has to be the best!!! Just as well you can run fast.

Don't you just love working with children?!!

I wish I had written down every funny thing my kids ever said to me, because now I have forgotten most of them. You must write these things down, Maggie.

Kids are so full of unintentional humor, but they can get even funnier when they get the clue themselves as I witnessed often through my son. He was the crack up kid and many times I was doubled up with laughter.

Don't you wish you could repeat thse moments over and over again?

LOL! Priceless! Particularly the bottom one. I thought I would remember the funny things my lads said, forever, but in fact, like the finely tuned woman, I have more or less forgotten everything.

Hi. I also should have made a note of the many funny quips that my five children came up with. I can remember a few but there would have been enough to write a book on them if only I could now recall them all.
Wonderful memories. Ahhhhh
Love Granny

Wonderful. I love the things they say and like most families have some gems that we tell over and over. We all say we should write them down - you have made a start Maggie. Why not begin a blogging "Things Children Say" day! A x

I love these, Maggie May! Children say such funny things in all innocence; like Finely Tuned Woman, I wish I'd written some of them down.

When one granddaughter was 3, I was telling her my birthday was coming soon and asked her if she could guess how old I would be. Her reply was, "I don't know, Grandma, but I know you'll be REALLY OLD!" My son laughed hysterically at that response:)

Aaaah. Thanks Maggie. It's raining outside (but melting the snow thank goodness) and I'm still beating myself up about the theft, but you made me smile!

Millie is the cutest! The things kids say always amaze me. They are just so blunt and honest, and it makes them so much fun to be around!

Sorry Maggie, that you got to my blog before I had had the chance to let you know that I had given you an award.

Young children really see life as it is. It is a pity that we do not remember being young.

Quotable kidlets.. they're just wonderful. I kept track of everything my kids said that I found amusing or touching from the time the could talk until they were each about 10. I would just take notes all year long and then write everything up in a letter to them on each birthday. I'll present it to them on their wedding days, methinks. :)

Absolute gems. I remember walking with my niece when she was about 4, into our village. There was a man unloading a truck, and being a hot day her had taken his shirt off and had lots of tattoos. Tamsin stopped and pointed at him and said 'his mummy is going to be very cross with him', I asked why and she replied 'he has been drawing all over his arms'.

Congrats on POTD! Well deserved. My granddaughter (5) recently told me that she doesn't have to pretend to love me anymore because she does. Isn't that hillarious?
