New Years Day Walk

Photos copyright: Maggie May

I have really enjoyed having my daughter and the grandsons for the Christmas period. Some of it was a bit grim while the chemo did its work, but after the sixth day, I started to steadily get stronger and I now feel almost normal (whatever that means).
I am really grateful that I was so well looked after by my lovely daughter, who changed and washed bedding and made tasty meals, did stacks of ironing and sat and held my hand when I needed her to.
It is like a bad dream now. A bit like childbirth....... hard at the time, but hard to remember exactly what it was like afterwards.
Dread the next one though scheduled for the 12th January.

On New Year's Day it was cold but sunny and I wanted to go on a longish walk.
Bristol has some lovely walks and we were taken by car to Clifton Suspension Bridge and walked all round the cliff tops and walked across the bridge and back. I remembered to take my camera and the youngest grandson joined the many on the slide who have helped keep the rocks polished by their bottoms for the next generation. I remember doing that myself as a child! Ouch! Not this time though!

Nothing like fresh air to blow away the cobwebs, I bet you really needed to after feeling so awful.
I'm pleased you are feeling stronger. x

It's so good to hear from you, Maggie. An extra hug and kiss to your daughter from your friend across the pond. I am thankful that she held your hand, took care of the physical needs at your home...and most of all for the love that she shows her dear Mom.
I love the photo of the rock....and the fun your grandson had taking his slide! Beautiful photos...both photos on your blog, Maggie.
Much love to you....
Jackie

I lived there when I was at Uni. One of my favourite places. Glad you're feeling better.

So glad that you're feeling better and up for going for a walk. The park looks like a lovely place. Sounds like your dear daughter is taking very good care of you.
Blessings to you and your family in the New Year! Love and prayers, Marguerite

Yes, I remember wearing out a few pairs of trousers on that slide. The thought of doing that now fills me with horror!! . . . shame we all get older!!
Nice to see my niece and a bit of the boys who were a bit pre-occuppied with their toys - but boys will be boys.
Glad you are feeling better ~ E x

Oh Maggie, it's good you're able to get out and about again.
I can imagine you dread the next session of chemo, I would dread childbirth again, and I had an epidural!
What can I say? It's shrinking the tumour, it will be worth it. No, Maggie, nothing I say will make it easier, but I'm sending all the love and light in the word over the Irish Sea straight to you my love. And will continue to do so.

It was good, Maggie May, that you could get out a bit, with your grandson, and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. I'm glad your daughter was able to visit for awhile! Sounds like she was a big help to you. Please feel better. Enjoy every minute until the next chemo!!

Dear Maggie,
So glad that you are feeling well enough to take a walk with with your loved ones. Fresh air can do wonders for the heart and soul. I enjoyed the pictures very much, but I'm afraid I would have been the one who landed on my bottom. You could have counted on it.

I'm glad your daughter was there to help and hold your hand when needed. I hope your second round goes much better.

Keeping you in my prayers and close to my heart.

So glad you were able to have a walk on New Year's Day Maggie. It was very cold here too and OH and I went for a walk before lunch. Beautiful sunshine but a biting breeze. Pleased to hear you are feeling more yourself again after your ordeal. A x

Good for you for getting out an about in the cold fresh air. That probably felt very nice. I can see how many bottoms have slid down those rocks. I'm glad you didn't try that. I would have worried about your poor tail-bone.

Hugs!

Maggie, I was so excited when I saw that you had posted and now I am so pleased to hear what a wonderful New Year's day you had. Oh I am just so happy you are feeling better.
Your daughter sounds wonderful, a real blessing to you in your time of need.....oh your family loves you, you are so blessed.
I smiled at seeing your grandson sliding on the polished rock...I have never seen this before, we always have tons of snow to slide on. Hope Harry is doing well and know you are both in my heart and prayers.....Luv you.....:-) Hugs

Looks like it was a lovely day, I think I'm with you, I would probably have given the slide a miss. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better than before.

So glad to hear you are feeling better, Maggie. This walk with the grandsons looks like the perfect way to celebrate feeling "normal" again. What a dear your daughter was to spend this time with you and help you!

Maybe knowing that all this discomfort is only temporary will help get you through the next round more easily.

Oh Miss Maggie May. I am praying for you each and every day. I am so glad your family is by your side. Even if for only a short while. You are so special.

Oh Maggie! I'm so relieved that you are feeling a little more normal.

I had started an email to you but I didn't want to burden you.

Know that you are in my thoughts and they of course include all those positives x 3.

My two have been down that one!

So glad you felt better and wanted to get out, perfect walking weather, crisp and sunny, even though it was cold.

Lovely that your daughter could be there for you and that you are through the first hurdle. Horrible to look forward to the next, but this too will pass.

Thinking of you all

We were scared to bits when OG started his chemo, but you get through it "one day at a time" and it passes.
