Making Hay While The Sun Shines.

Photos Copyright: Maggie May

Harry and I have been taking advantage of weekend trips to the sea. It seems that we might as well make hay while the sunshines because Harry has recently received news from the hospital that he attends, where they monitor his Prostate Cancer, that he will sooner or later have to start chemotherapy.
I was much more upset than he was to hear this.
Anyway, he has had a stay of execution for a month at least and
I am trying not to think about it until nearer the time.

This photo was taken at Weston Super Mare overlooking Steep Holme, a small island in the Bristol Channel.

Quite a few of you are asking about my health and at the moment, I am not feeling too bad at all and go for three monthly check ups.
I get more tired than I used to and am giving up some of my work. I also feel the cold more than before. Chemo does seem to upset the metabolism. However the numbness has gone completely from my hands and toes.
My hair is growing back! Not curly in an unusual colour, like everyone who has had chemo or known someone else who has, predicted that it would. I was looking forward to thick, curly red hair for a change.
Straight and silver/grey, thats me. However, it is a great style to have as I can get out of the shower or walk in the rain and know that I don't really need to do anything to it. It just dries out and lies in place. What could be simpler than that?

I know the Weston view very well Maggie - just love going there.
Great to see you and Harry on Friday . . .and little Ash but once we got talking about blogging the poor little chap got left out.
Continuing to pray for Harry and you and of course Mrs Bluelights. Cancer is a vile intruder - it would be wonderful if one day it would be banned forever.
Love ~ Eddie

I think your hair is cute. I try to cut my hair that short on purpose. So sorry to hear about Harry. Enjoy this month together.

I'm glad you are getting this last bit of summer before your husband has to start chemo, but sorry he has to go through it. And I thin your hair looks very chic.

Oh dear, Maggie, I am so sorry that Harry is going through this too-isn't that taking sharing a bit too far?

I have a picture of me at six years old playing on the beach at Weston-super-mare. Glad you are getting about now and your hair is growing back in, very Judy Dench.
Thinking of you both and sending love on a direct line.

I love seeing a picture of your hair. Mine is still curly almost a year after it started growing back (and it was straight before). I think we are just glad to have hair, no matter how it comes in!

Your strength will come back, it just takes a while.

I think your hair is beautiful! It is best to take advantage of the right time to do things: making hay while the sun shines, but being a country girl, I thought of the real thing when I read your title!
Wishing you and Harry the best!

Good girl Maggie, keep making hay while the sun shines.....sorry Harry has to go through treatment, it seems unfair doesn't it. Am praying for a full recovery for everyone in your family suffering from this horrid disease. Hope he copes as well as you have. Loved the photo. Stay well my friend....:-)Hugs

Maggie: As you said on my post, writing a blog IS therapeutic. I'd say one of the least painful of therapies. Keep writing on yours, and commenting on mine.

My prayers are with you.

BTW, I'm straight and silver gray too. I'm letting my brown color go, and so I just posted a new picture on my blog that's closer to the way I'll look when the color's gone!! Face it, I tell myself.

My cousin, who had surgery to remove a growth of some sort in her abdomen (which the lab tests said is malignant) had that done almost a week after my surgery. Unfortunately, for my cousin, they were unable to remove it all due to the proximity to some nerve and a ligament so she will be having chemo now to try to eradicate the cancer left behind as well as to hopefully, stop the growth of any new cancer too. She will start her chemo this coming Wednesday and mine will begin a week later. So she and I have been phoning each other frequently to check on the other, compare notes and wonder too about what effects the chemo we will be getting might have on each of us. When I had chemo 7 years ago, I had no nausea with the first six-week course and a little nausea with the follow up chemo mainly on the first day of each new weekly session and I never lost any hair. But since I don't yet know what type of chemo I will be getting this time around, who knows -in a month or two, I might be going bald too! I wish my cousin followed some other blogs online (she does read mine now and again) cause I think it would do her good to read what others have dealt with and what their outcome was too. She's really strong though in her faith and I do think that will carry her a long, long way.
Peace and here's hoping your husband's chemo goes as well for him as yours did for you.

Nice to see you and Harry enjoying life. I wish him the best of luck with his treatment.

All any of us can do is to take one day at a time and enjoy life to the full.

Lots of Love xx

You4r hair looks very fine and soft, as if it would be nice to touch. It looks very similar to mine. Isn't it nice that it's so easy to take care of?

Tell Harry good luck and that I'm sending lots of good vibes across the Channel to him. I hope everything will have a happy ending because you've sure had your share of it.

Hugs!

Sorry to hear about your husband - we have two good friends, one of whom had surgery and one chemo for the same problem. Both have made great recoveries and feel great now.

Love the photo - British pigeons? Beautiful birds.

Also love the hair: that's how I keep mine all the time.

Sending lots of virtual hugs.

I'm so sorry to hear Harry's news.

I'll remember you both when I'm sending Reiki and keep you both in my prayers.

Good to hear your hair is growing back even if it isn't red and curly. :)

Lovely hair cut, sorry for the news but will keep you both in my prayers. So grand that you are close enough to the ocean for those visits.

My mum pays to have her hair like yours! Glad you are feeling well and enjoying the last of the summer. Sorry to hear Harry will be undergoing chemo, good luck to him.

The hair looks great.

I had just got used to my curls, and decided I liked them, when my hair reverted to its usual straight self. Shame. You always seem to be an emotional step behind, with cancer.

Nice to see you for a change, even if it is only the back of your head!

Sorry to hear about Harry. You have had more than your fair share of problems without having any more.

Of course I recognised Steep Holm immediately Maggie, as we have a view of it from the other side, from our windows. Sorry to hear about Harry having to have chemo Maggie. I can understand that it upset you because you have had to go through it yourself. I do hope that you continue in good health. I agree with you about short hair styles but sorry that you didn't get your red curls! A x

Your hair looks beautiful, and it's good to hear you're feeling well, if not as peppy as you once were. But I'm so sorry to hear that Harry must undergo chemo; I know that you will be a very supportive caretaker.

Glad that the two of you are taking advantage of your time and enjoying some lovely trips.

Maggie,
What a beautiful place to go..

I am praying for the two of you; I'm so sorry about Harry.

I am so glad the numbness is gone... and your hair looks wonderful. I've work mine as short as possible for many years, but it isn't as fine and soft as yours. Can't see you from the front, of course, but in my eyes, you are beautiful.

I am so very sorry to hear that Harry will have to go through chemo again. Honestly, it seems that it doesn't rain but it pours. At least, only one of you seems to have to be dealing with this at a time. Good thing because the other needs to be able bodied to help out if need be.

Many prayers and hugs sent your way, Maggie May!!

As you and Harry make hay while the sun shines, I will be saying a prayer for you both...for a lovely time together as you travel...and for his chemo. Love your hair!!!
