Not so long ago my little rabbit Ash, had a generously sized play pen.
However, he now has to manage with a much smaller space for a couple of weeks or so.
All because of Lily, his little companion to be.
She is in a smaller space still.
I have been assured by the breeder that this is the correct way to go, so with excitement and some trepidation about the difficulties of rabbit bonding, I brought Ash his new baby *sister*.
Lily doesn't seem phased by anything and compared to how Ash was when he was a baby, she is not the slightest bit skittish.
So when I put them in their separate compartments for the first time, they turned their backs on each other.
Lily didn't think there was a big deal to the meeting, though Ash sniffed her rear end but seemed quite friendly in a nervous kind of way.
After a while they began to ignore each other and just get on with life.
At one stage they did kiss through the bars though, so I guess they are going to bond.
Watch this space as I hope to get some pictures of them grooming each other.
Sorry, all you folks who don't like rabbits except in a meal, just bear with me and I might return to normal, (whatever that is).

i think they are adorable :), hope they become great friends
Fascinating - do keep us posted.
Sweet! I had a couple when I was child and then I had a couple for my children when they were younger - I still have a small line from a mean scratch one got me with. But they were fun.
Ash and Lily are cuties!
Oh Maggie, they're soooo sweet.
I hope they do bond. I always felt that Crash was lonely by himself, that maybe we should have got him a playmate.
Ash has quite the collection of toys, hasn't he? Will he share with Lily??
That's so sweet. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of their bonding process. :) She's just the fluffiest little thing, isn't she?
Oh I just love them Maggie. They are going to give you so much pleasure. Can't wait for more photos xx
Hope they do manage to bond :)
Rabbits are not my first choice of pet, but to each his (or her) own!
Very sweet. I hope it goes well, - she's a bit tiny to be in a fight!
These photos are too cute, I'm having a complete cute overload! :-)
Rabbits as a meal???? OOOOOOOh NO!
I'm sure they'll be fine when they get to share a home. :)
This is really special. Nice pictures of them both and their individual apartments. It will be fun to watch their progress.
I would rather that a rabbit was indoors in a cage than outside eating our garden. I am sure that they will be friends.
I ooooo...and ahhhhh over your photos! I have never eaten rabbit...and certainly wouldn't NOW for sure!!! How adorable, Maggie. Love you...and wishing you the best....and am continuing to pray for you.

I couldn't even consider eating a rabbit? Yikes!!
Your two are so adorable!!
I hope they like each other.

I fear I may be one who falls into the "likes rabbits better cooked in a recipe" camp but I fully understand how it is important for you that these two bunnies get along. You are going about it the right way and are almost certainly going to be successful. Don't worry about boring us. The bunnies are adorable.
awww..I have a pet rabbit..he's black, too, but with floppy ears! He runs loose in the house! Yours are adorable!
I hope it all works out for these critters! What an adventure.
How cute! I don't mind rabbit talk and rabbit pictures in the least. You made me think back to when I was a teenager and we raised lop eared rabbits for a bit of time. Rabbits are so fun. It is so cute to cuddle with them and watch them as they learn to hop. Have fun!
Blessings to you and your day.
Oh Maggie I could never eat a bunny rabbit. These two are adorable and I love that Ash is no longer alone and now has company.\
Hope you and Harry are doing well Maggie........:-) hugs
so sweet, my German Shepherd, and ginger tom are great pals and sleep together and play together.
Show all the photos you want of these two, Maggie--I think they're adorable and love to hear how they're getting along. This looks like a great way to introduce the two of them without worrying about Lily's safety. I'm sure they'll become fast friends very soon.
Dear Maggie, I'm so pleased your dear daughter tempted you to get Ash. And now you have wee Lily too.Pets to cuddle, stroke and care for are very good for our health, and very healing too. Plus you have the added advantage that rabbit tongues are so soft when they lick you in thanks and affection - unlike Zebby Cat's rasping, industrial sand-paper style washes.
Ash and Lily are just gorgeous!
oooooh! They are so cute! No wonder people say 'cute as a bunny'!
Looks as though they will be 'Happy Bunnies' but she seems a bit stand offish and playing hard to get!! LOL
Poor chap's been 'doctored' so it will have to be a platonic relationship.
I have been soooo busy!
Love Eddie
They are so precious! My, Ash is healthy. I love his black shiny coat.
Maggie, this is too cool!
Sooooo sweet! How could anybody think of eating rabbits?
Keep us posted. They really are adorable and I think given a bit of time, they'll bond.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and the nice comments on your brother's blog!
That rabbit is SO cute :-)
Lily is so cute! Looking forward to hearing more about their friendship.
I think they are really sweet. I can see why you are so interested in them. XX
