People either love Bristol or they hate it. You can shop till you drop and this is the newly built shopping precinct that we recently visited, called Cabot Circus. Noted for the glass domed roof. It is a huge shopping area and this photo doesn't really do it justice.
If you like posh shops then this one came from London. I always think that Bristol comes second to London, but I guess many people will disagree.
Bristol is steeped in history and this is the theatre on Bristol City Centre. It is very old. Many of the top ballets, plays and musicals come to this theatre.
Bristol has a history of the sea. There are many walks along the waterfront and the old buildings have been modernized. The bridge has been named Pero's Bridge, after a slave who had that name, when Bristol had a part in the slave trade.
There are many tranquil parts of Bristol, lots of parks and open green places to rest a while. Just like in London.
Harry and I love to visit all the lovely places in Bristol, when we can.
For those of you who might be confused.......... we are at present staying with our daughter on the east coast, nearer to London!

you should be on the bristol city council - they'd love you! great PSF
What with so many of my favorite bloggers posting photos of the countryside they call home, I'm gonna feel like I've definitely been a world traveler! Love seeing all the beautiful sites from England, Italy, Australia, India and many other places around the world I'll never get to visit in person. Living vicariously? Well maybe, just a little bit but loving all of it!
It's fab that you are blogging from your daughters place!
Lovely shots of Bristol, I haven't visited the Circus yet and I live here!!
Beautiful photos with some very interesting information Maggie!
I love all the nature mixed with urban life!
Thinking about what scrappysue said I think you could be a great addition to the British Tourist Board!
All the very best! x
Lovely!!
Looks like a fine place to me. Great photos and commentary. But why do some people hate Bristol - the crowds?
You take such good photos! You have such a good eye (well, hopefully you have 2, but you know what I mean). I am ashamed to say that I know nothing about Bristol. I had no idea it had such an impressive shopping centre. Blogging is so informative!
Wow I know who I will come to if I need travel info! Thanks for sharing! The photos are great!
Beautiful.
beautiful place..
It looks like a beautiful place! Lucky You!
I was at university there and I'm almost afraid to go back it's so different. One of my favourite places in the world is the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Thanks.
Well, thank you for giving me a chance to get a glimpse of Bristol. I do get to see a bit of England this way. Warn me when you go to Wales or Scotland. I don't want to insult the people there by saying how lovely England is. Hee, hee.
Never been to Bristol but I do like what I see here, Maggie.
That look like a beautiful place - hopefully, I'll make it across the Pond some day. That shot of the Hippodrome is great.
I am dying to travel. Thanks for helping me scratch this itch, even if just virtually and vicariously through you!
Happy Halloween!
What a beautiful place to be blogging from...thanks for the virtual tour. Someday someday I'm going to travel and take fabulous pics like yours!!!
Hi ~ Just catching up on visiting some of my favorite blogs. Sending prayers and wishes to your daughter and family for all you've been through. One of the things I love about blogging is it allows me a chance to see the world through the eyes of others. Thanks for the tour.
I went with my friend Audrey once to Bristol, on a lark...had a great time exploring what I thought was a lovely town. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Never been to Bristol, but I had a cousin who lived there. He said it is one of the most violent cities to live in (highest violent crime figures in UK) and he got so fed up of being mugged on his way home from work he attacked a mugger with a biro (yes, a biro) who then ran away!
Looks pretty in your pictures though.
Beautiful and it looks like the shopping would be a lot of fun!
Beautiful pictures and I know it would be a lovely place to visit.
I have a sister who lives in Bristol so i visit quite a lot and love it!
What a lovely area! great pics!
Great pics!!!
I so loved seeing these photos. I didn't know much about Bristol, what a beautiful and charming place. I would love to see it in person, seems like you could get lost in all the sites. I bet you could easily spend a whole day there.
I hope things with your daughter are better. Thinking of you!
XXXXX
Beautiful pictures, I would love to visit there some day.
I used to go to Bristol to go shopping when I was at Bath Uni and it seemed to have a big shopping centre at the time. I imagine it is even bigger now. Most of my memories, though, are of Bristol Temple Meads railway station.
I knew nothing at all about Bristol, so thanks for the information~
