Mud-bath Anyone?

Or Sandie Shaw?

Meet the local seagulls preening themselves and bathing in the sea! The water isn't dirty. It's just a very muddy area. It's always brown.

I remember when I went to the former Yugoslavia for a holiday, where the Adriatic Sea was so crystal clear and blue, feeling almost despair when I came home to our muddy sea. Everything looked a mess.
Funny how easy it is to get used to things again.

It always amazes me that no matter what kind of water they're in they're feather are still so white.

They look like they've settled for a prolonged period of time - I wish I had the stamina to stay in the cold sea for any amount of time :)

Gotta love gulls. They know how to have fun!

You've been to the Adriadic Sea??? Wow! The ocean around Mauai and Oahu, in Hawaii, is also chrystal clear blue, and just so beautiful. Now, on Kauai, it's muddy in most places because there is SO much rain on that island, and the rivers are constantly flowing, that the water is just always churned up.

Plenty of gulls there to keep the gull population going then!

Great watery picture. Mine's up!

I loved the Red Sea -Crystal Clear around Taba . I also loved the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the birds and life patroling that sea was fascinating.
But my love is still the sea of my beloved Pembrokeshire

I could make an educated guess where you shot this! Scegness!!

Sea faring birds know a good thing when they see it. Crabs and clams have better scuttle off when seagulls are around.

No matter the water, it's universal... gulls just wanna have fu-un. ;)

I love the sort of sepia look to this photo. Nice entry!

I'd like to play in the mud with them.

I was in Mexico where the water was so clear that you could see the bottom and watch all the colorful fish swim around. Now that I could get used to quite easily instead of the murky North Sea.

Sea Gulls are the bane of our lives. They bomb us when we walk the dog, at least during the nesting and fledging season. the rule the rooftops with their bold arrogance, but they are spectacular on the wing.

Interesting photo of the gulls. Actually, it looks more as thought the brown color is simply the brown bottom sand showing through than murky mud being stirred up.

Must be Sandy Shaw! I liked that one! Pretty shot of her - and the other songbirds......yes - I know gulls don't sing. The whine....
But they are as pretty as Sandy!

Don't worry about the muddy water. It's part of our eco system. It has its own purpose. The sea gulls don't mind. In my country, if the sea meeting the delta of the river turns muddy, it means we have to beware: the Croc is there. And it's fun being chase by them, I can tell you. It gives our little feet strength and endurance for stress. lol.

Oh look at those seagulls congregating in the mud! I wonder what they're thinking ;-)
I've seen worse but I've also been to the best beaches.
Can't wait for the sun!

Have a good day, dear Maggie May!

Does that mean the birds don't get clean?

I love seagulls. Every morning the seagulls here in Vancouver wake me up with their squawking, and I love it. Our ocean is muddy-looking a bit too. I was amazed when I went to Hawaii and saw the clear, turqoise ocean.

Look quite inviting despite being brown!

By the sea, by the sea! Those gulls have the life!

Sometimes those clear beautiful waters have the most personality. There's more going on where it's muddy. You are blessed to have the water so close to you. Watery Wednesday. It sounds so lovely.

I had planned a trip to Yugoslavia many years ago...then, boom, war broke out. But now I dream of walking along the Dalmation Coast. Hopefully everything will remain peaceful until I make it there...or heaven forbid, peaceful forever!

In Prince Edward Island there are many muddy waters but go further east to Nova Scotia and the ocean is beautiful.
I followed Granny's blog to here and am so glad I did.
Thank you for sharing.....:-)

To be honest, the sea up here is a beautiful turquoise. Especially around Seahouses/Bamburgh.

I'll always remember seeing the wonderful blue-green sea in Corfu for the first time - beautiful. The gulls don't mind though. A x
