Houseboat Guests.

Photo copyright Maggie May

This is another photo of the same canal that I used last week for Watery Wednesday. A canal in Essex that we visited while staying with our daughter, and we walked along the banks of it just before dusk.
The ducks milled around the houseboat. Maybe they got fed round there. They seemed to be waiting.......

Watery Wednesday is hosted by 2sweetnsaxy. Why not look at some of the lovely photos from all over the world?

Aww, cute duckies. Nice pic of the water and houseboat. I'm sure somebody fed those ducks.

Its funny how we creatures naturally wait where we have been fed!

A nice shot, I love evening light. Wouldn't it be fun to stay on that houseboat and be rocked to sleep while listening to the ducks?

When we visited our friends in England one year, they took us to a party on a friend's houseboat. It was so much fun...quite posh. We don't have that type of houseboat here in the U. S. so I really felt like I was having an adventure.

I have a friend who lives on a houseboat. It's an unusual way of life but they take it from its moorings and travel to other places when they want a change of scenery. Amazing really. I love the idea of it but I couldn't live on a houseboat on a permanent basis - too small. But they have swans, moorhens, all manner of birds as neighbours and passing friends.

Your photo reminded me so much of them. Lovely.

The ducks do look as though they are expecting a treat at any time:) I'm curious--are the barges used for transporting freight only or are there excursion barges that people can take, too?

Ducks!

(Considering my blog post today, this couldn't have been more apt or coincidental. Amazing.)

The ducks do look very expectant. I hope that they weren't disappointed!

Hey Maggy...what is POTW?

I am glad you arrived at my humble abode, but I don't know what it is.

My brother also has an autistic spectrum disorder. I wrote about it a few times, most in this post:http://hannahmiet.blogspot.com/2009/08/keep-change-you-filthy-animal.html

I will definitely be back here. Keep the great posts coming!

I loved the canals and the lovely walks we took along them. Thanks so much for the sweet comment today, too! Now, maybe one day in the future I can get back "over the pond" and walk along the canals again...want to come along?
