There was an announcement on our local radio yesterday, that it has been found through studying surveys, that people who live in Clevedon, have an average life span of 85 years. That is much more than many other places round here.
Well yesterday, my son took me to Clevedon (in Somerset) for the day.......... so heres hoping that it has added on a few hours of life to all of us!
I have started to feel quite well again after my virus and the shock of the cut finger and so far, antibiotics haven't had a detrimental affect on me....... well maybe my bowels, but we won't go into that.
So when Sam asked if I'd like to go with him and the girls to Clevedon which is small a sea side town not too far away, then I quickly made sandwiches and took clothing for any situation, which meant my bag was full of sun hats and cardigans and rain gear because the weather here could do anything.
As it happened, it turned out to be warm but not hot and a gentle sea breeze seemed to make us feel refreshed most of the time.
Being Friday, there were not too many people about as the school that my granddaughters go to had a non pupil day and broke up for half term a day early. That meant we had the beach to ourselves. It was a lovely change for me to go somewhere different.
The girls enjoyed collecting pebbles and using them for artwork. The top photo is Amber's dragonfly and Sam was trying to see how many stones could be successfully built one on top of the other. I think eight was the limit.
We eventually walked miles along the cliff top walk and we had a really lovely time. Today my daughter is coming for a few days with our grandsons, so I am going to be rather busy over the long weekend of the Bank Holiday.
Things seem to be getting back to normal and I feel very contented.
What will you be doing, I wonder?

That sounded a lovely day. I'm off to Bolton Abbey today (near Harrogate) to sing in a concert in the ruins of the Priory Church. Beautiful setting; let's hope the weather holds!
Enjoy your weekend Maggie. Love the pebble pictures.
Staying home and working in the yard and looking forward to it. The weather is finally warm enough to plant! Whew!
What a lovely day you have in Clevedon. Love the rock art!

This is Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S. - with Monday as a holiday so folks are out and about, enjoying the extra time off work. I'm home alone and really have no plans.
Your day at the shore sounded lovely. I will probably take a walk on the beach myself.
lovely ,lovely, lovely! SO glad you are doing well!
Amber's dragon fly is lovely. She is very artistic, well, both the girls are.
I'm so happy that you're doing well. It puts a smile on my face and on yours too, I'm sure.
Clevedon sound slike the right kind of place to live, because I imagine myself getting just about that old. How do they feel about immigration? Do you know?
Can you bring those stones on the beach home for you garden or is that forbidden?
Hugs!
It's raining here again. The climate here is much like England's. I will be walking in rain, but not somewhere as pretty as your walks take you :).
Oh so glad you are feeling fine, this is wonderful news. beaches are wonderful places when the sun is out and not swamped by hoards of people. Sounds like you had a tremendous family day out. Life is so good for you now, long may it continue.
Well, I know I won't be visiting any beaches and having the benefit of a lazy day in the sun, with any gentle sea breezes in the picture. It appears, since Mandy is working today and tomorrow, I'll just be doing my regular babysitting thing with Maya and Kurt and working on my current embroidery project. Ah well, it will be a leisurely weekend all the same.
Such a nice day with your son and grandchildren. Aren't you glad you had a camera so you could show us the two pebble pieces of art?
Such creative stonework. Our family is taking the US Memorial Holiday and staying off the roads and at home. Do some gardening if the rain lets up, visiting, and working at the local history museum. Hope your weekend is good.
Sounds like a lovely way to spend the day. I'm glad you're feeling better, Maggie. I love dragonflies and Amber has certainly shown her creative side with that one. Nicely done, Amber!.
Dear Maggie - I've been so busy with my brother and my own problems that I have not been blogging in a couple of weeks.
Yours is the first I have stopped to visit for a few minutes today. What a mess of stuff you've been living through - illness - cuts (eurghhh) the limit really.
Know that I am thinking about you and sending Positives to the ninth!
I could see they were helping until your little run-in with the glass.
btw - It is snowing to beat the band here today. We have at least an inch and a half on the deck railings. Ridiculous!
A perfect day Maggie, and you sound so happy.
No bank holiday weekend here, I'll just be weeding early morning and evening and avoiding the heat for the rest of the day.
Enjoy your weekend xx
The sea is always therapeutic. I was so sorry to read your previous blog post. You really didn't need extra hospital-time did you?
Take care of yourself.
Oh, it sounds as though you had a LOVELY time!!! I'm sooo glad! The weather sounds perfect...And I am glad that you are not feeling too badly...and that the antibiotics haven't hit your system too hard! Love the dragonfly, by the way! What a brilliant idea for a stone sculpture! Have a wonderful remaining few days of bank holiday weekend! Love you, Janine XO
I love the artwork with the pebbles. So very relaxing - a balm for the soul. So glad to hear you are feeling energized.
Sounds like a lovely recharging day..... gotta love making stone piles or whatever they are really called....
Enough your bank holiday Monday.... hope the sun shines up there for you..

Yes Clevedon is a great place - also agree that people live to an old age there. When I was in ambulance service a number of elderly patients were a grand old age.
Glad Amber enjoyed herself and the dragonfly was great. Love Eddie x
Sounds like a perfect day and what a nice way to recharge your energy. I'm so glad to hear that your feeling better and that with each new day comes more strength.
I enjoyed the photos of the pebbles. I love rocks, I collect them when I travel. i thought the firefly was very cleverly done.
This weekend, I shall be resting and reading, sitting by the lake getting ready to go back to work on Tuesday. I'm happy about it, as I have missed it.
Enjoy your weekend.
