Light After Shadows

Photo copyright: Maggie May

After walking in the shadows for a good while I now feel that there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
I went to see my consultant today to see what the results of the CT scan were. I was told that I was in a very good position as the chemo was doing what it was supposed to do without upsetting me too much. The cancer has responded to it very well and there is only the tiniest bit left. So it was a communal decision at the hospital to press on with the chemo and
session four will be next Tuesday 23rd Feb.
Although they cannot give me any guarantees, (in fact they can never give anyone any guarantee that their cancer won't come back), they did stress that I am in a very good position.
She said some people get worse with chemo as the time goes on, but some people have better times as they get further into chemo. I am hoping I am one of the latter as compared to the first two treatments, I was not as badly afflicted last time.
I am still very busy making rag jackets for son and granddaughter for May Day. There is a lot of work in making them and it isn't something that can be done overnight. So I will press on with that as it gives me something to do while I am incapacitated.

I am pleased to be able to tell you that my brother, Eddie Bluelights, has now come home from hospital and is resting. He seems to be made of strong stuff and is galloping about on two sticks. He will get back to the blog as soon as he is able. In fact his computer has automatically posted something new,so go over there if you can.
All for now..........

Maggie, what wonderful news....I am so happy for you.
Hopefully you will be one of those who don't get worse with treatment (as I was).
Wonderful to hear that Eddie is home and doing well. My love to him and Maria.
Always in my heart, thoughts and prayers my friend.....:-) Hugs

Ah Maggie -I think you have been one of the ones who adjust to the chemo and by your strength of spirit, allow it to do its proper thing without totally disrupting your life. You've done really well with your recovery after each treatment, the cancer appears to be disappearing and yes, though there are no guarantees that it will never return, you've set that bar so the odds are now more in your favor than not. Keep up with the good stuff there, just as you've been doing all along. I'm happy to say apparently the dog walking thing -even though I don't always get out every single day -appears to be helping as I've noticed some of my slacks aren't quite as difficult for me to get into them now. Progress in very small increments, yes, but progress all the same!

Great news Maggie. You know my mother was a chemotherapy patient too (breast cancer) and she was even a hospice patient. A dozen years on, she's still with us. Never lose hope, just keep trusting in our wonderful Saviour! God bless you....

Maggie, I am so relieved about your good news. You are walking in the light, milady, basking in it. You will be in my thoughts as you enter this new round of chemo.

Eddie Bluelights your brother??? I had no idea. He invited me to be interviewed on his blog and I've been lax about answering the questions or going to his blog. I didn't know he'd been in the hospital. Small world.

Hi Maggie, So glad that you have some good news. I have been thinking about you even though I haven't been visiting, I've just found you again.
Take care.

That's very good news, Maggie. You are responding to the treatment and the chemo is working out well for you. I am so happy for you, although I realize that you will be guardedly optimistic. That is perfectly normal under the circumstances. Congratulations, you are doing a great job. It's attitude that counts too, you know!

Maggie, that's wonderful!
Some people say that visualising the tumour shrinking with the chemo is effective- whatever you did, it's working and i'm delighted!
I supppose none of us has a guarantee that cancer won't come/come back, or anything else for that matter.
You're doing great, my friend, and I'll send you some more positive energy, love and light for the next session. Hope it will go well for you.
I'll call over to Eddie's later on-glad he's home and hobbling!
Things are looking up at last, Maggie.

Glad Eddie is back home again. Seems like there are always bumps on our pathway to hold us back. We just have to remember to jump back up again.

I saw you over at Ayak's and wanted to come and say hello. I'm sure you are up to your ears in similar messages, but yesterday at our French weight watchers I was with a new friend who is now 8 years in remission. I also have two cousins who are equally in remisson. The chemo worked in all three cases, as I am sure it will do for you.

Thinking of you

This is good news indeed, Maggie May! I know the chemo is uncomfortable and has unpleasant side effects, but knowing that it is doing its job has to make it easier to go through this next time around. Glad to hear that Eddie is already up and around. The two of you are real troupers!

This is the greatest news, Maggie...your strength, the prayers said for you and the love that has poured onto you are doing the trick. Big breaths and one last push.

We must be the "Dynamic Duo". Remember our mother's motto when things were tough, "Your Mother will not be whacked!"
Just in case you are reading this Jackie, student of weird English words, "Whacked" in this context means "Beaten" or "Defeated" - not 'clouted' by a cane like schoolteachers used to do to us! LOL
Hope to see you on Monday, Maggie ~ Eddie x
