I am used to things happening in my garden. Foxes have left eggs in pots and in gravel. I have had scaffolding covering up most of it for weeks and plants have struggled with being under deep shade.
There has been builder's rubble left all over the place and scaffolders have been very insensitive towards any living thing, throwing heavy equipment on precious shrubs and flowers. So it was with heavy heart this morning when I looked for something in flower, something that hadn't been damaged and I realized there doesn't seem to be anything. The birds have been scared away.
The only thing that is left intact and that hasn't been affected in any way is the cat in the pot!

awwwwwwwwwwww maggie it will come again, smile and go forage and plant
Regeneration! It will look fabulous when you get cracking on it again and what an opportunity to be even more creative!
That is the most adorable little terra cotta cat I've ever seen. How absolutely sweet. That's the kind of sculpture I don't mind seeing in a garden.

...and very lovely he looks, too. :)
Thankfully Zebby is asleep behind me, or he might get ideas!
Here's hoping you have a wonderful Summer, just right for the existing plants to recover and for any new ones to thrive.
Care and huggles, Mickle and Zeb (not snoring!!)
I do love this cat sleeping in your pot, and what a pretty blue pot! I often have a cat in one of my pots, too; except they aren't ceramic:)
I know how disheartening it must be not to find anything blooming, but it will come back. Now that your kitchen woes are behind you, maybe you can turn your energy into re-doing the garden.
Nature is wonderful Maggie, and will all grow again, given a bit of TLC.
Love Granny
:( shame on your builders..... thats just aint right......

A cat that has nine lives, and he didn't use up any of them during all that kerfuffle?
It took 18 months for any birds to come to our garden after the house was built!
French builders are just the same -nothing is safe. That said, plants are tough little blighters, and I'm sure a lot of the stuff will come back.

Now there are no rats to eat the cat must have just curled up and fossilised! ~ Eddie
I love the cat in the pot!
Well isn't that typical? That's cats for you. Even porcelain ones.
Finally got back to the blog... :)
Oh Maggie, it breaks my heart too, when I see workmen up on ladders (or scaffolding in your case) throwing stuff on my precious flowers and/or shrubs. I just want to scream at them "look what you're doing!! Have you no sense? Stop ruining my garden!!"
Too bad. You will be so glad when this is all over. The cat, at least looks content.
Nature has a poetic way of surviving and exceeding our expectations. Hang in there!
Oh poor you Maggie - I can just imagine how you feel. It will all come again in no time. In the meantime you have the company of your lovely cat. A x
Ah! the cat is obviously made of sterner stuff.
The cat looks very comfortable! Our cat likes to curl up inside a plant pot too. Strange animals aren't they!

Sweet cat! Have all the rats gone for good?
Better than a rat in a pot!!
A very pretty ornament, so sorry that all your plants have been damaged. It's just the time of year when everything should be in full and vigorous growth.Perhaps you could bill the builders?
Maggie even though made of stone, the cat looks so adorable. Nice discovery. Anna :)
Your plants and shrubs will recover but it is a shame to be without a colourful garden at this time of the year.
Builders are so careless. When we last had them I found myself rumaging in the skip on a regular basis to retrieve anything worthwhile that they had thrown out.
Oh my Gosh Maggie! You know "catwhoisnotmine" that catches mice? I have a pot she sleeps in and it looks JUST LIKE THAT! I'll have to take a picture and post for you. I think you would love it.
It kinda angers me that people who are working for you, and getting paid, show such disregard for your things. That is one thing that always bothered; people being rude and disrespectful. It's just wrong. It's like someone just passing by and throwing garbage in your yard, or coming over and picking your flowers. Just no respect.
