Things Keep Springing Up

Photos Copyright:Maggie May

Things have been sadly neglected in my garden recently because of my ill-health. However, when I went to put some clothes on the rotary line this morning, I noticed these succulents that have burst into flower. They are quite remarkable little plants that seem to thrive on neglect and little water. What more could you ask of any plant, really?

Another plant that seems to do well and spread almost to the point of being classed as a weed, is the Japanese Anemone. Year after year they unfurl their flowers, when everything else is coming to an end.
Faithful friends indeed.

I am in a state of waiting. Since I gave up work, every day seems to merge into another and every one seems the same as any other. My life seems to lack structure. I have a little gap in my hospital appointments now and have to wait until the 11th August for my radiation treatment to start.
Then I will be visiting oncology every day for six weeks barring the weekend. I expect that will seem like an ordeal but at least I won't be in this state of limbo. I will be doing something positive to help my self and probably having a little grumble as I go along. I don't expect it will be a bed of roses.

You are entitled to any amount of grumbling you desire. I say, get while the getting's good! because once you are well, no one will let you get away with it!

As always, excellent photos --- and as always, my love to you and Harry.

I agree completely with Clare! Go ahead and grump away all you like as it may actually help at times just by getting your feelings out and on the table and could even help you to begin the positive attitude again too in the process.Every day except weekends for six weeks getting treatments is a pretty big ordeal for anyone to have to endure for sure. I hope they are able to give you meds too that would help you cope with any side effects of the treatments though which might make them a little easier on your system. Hugs to you!!!

I love the way you are approaching the chemotherapy, realistic and positive, which seems to me to be the best, the right way. We all know the side effects, but have to remember that we are all individuals, all react differently to drugs and so on. I have known ladies who have gone through it with no side effects at all, yet others seem to suffer dreadfully. We shall keep our fingers crossed that you fall into the first category.
Thanks for the comment on my blog re home made stuff.. and in answer to your plea...
Shell edging as follows...
Assume you have done the rows of trebles or dcs at the top of the blanket or whatever you are making, at the beginning of the row, simply skip two stitches, then work seven (or five if you want) trebles into next st. Skip to, then slip stitch into the next stitch. Repeat. Once you have done it once, it will seem so easy, honest!

I think sometimes the waiting part is the hardest. I'm sure you'll be glad to get on with your treatment and get it over with. And if you want to grumble, that's fine--that's what we're here for!

Your Japanese anemones are lovely; funny, but I just bought one for my garden a few weeks ago. Mine is looking pretty sickly, though, so I'm not sure it's going to make it. It probably doesn't like this hot, sticky weather we've been having.

The resilience of garden plants never ceases to amaze me.

I am sure that the wait for your treatment must seem like an eternity but August 11 will soon come round. Stay positive.

The waiting can be the hardest - once you get going with all those visits and the blasting begins you can grumble at will and your faithful friends will (metaphorically) pat you on the head... Keep an image of simple beauty in your mind's eye to focus on.

It's amazing how plants survive without attention isn't it?

You're entitle to grumble if you want to. x

You will be like those succulent plants and blossom into flower no matter what you have to go through. I have complete faith that you will do well.

Grumbling is allowed. You are not going through the "best of times." I'm happy to hear the joy your flowers bring. I hope they keep blooming their hearts out just for you.

I recall so vividly this time last year when we were fighting to save our son and sometimes made several trips (90 miles one way) a week to the oncologist or the radiologist or the surgeon or... and we grumbled a lot but every second spent was worth it because it gave us that much extra time with him. Sending hugs your way

Hi Maggie :-)

Your Japanese Anemone is one of the prettiest weeds I've ever seen!

I pray that you get through the tough times ahead.

Your garden looks good to me. I have one of those Japanese Anenome things, didn't know till now what it was called, and you're right, it thrives almost like a weed. It does well in my garden so, with weeds for company!
Best of luck with the radiotherapy, and please do grump all you want. It is a right pain to have to go throught this.
((hugs))

What a beautiful thing Sandy said, and all your friends. I understand that you want to get started with the radio-therapy asap and lets hope and pray it deals with this evil thing quickly.
Isn't it nice to see Jackie back. Still miss Janine of course.

Like the garden photos ~ Eddie xx

My best wishes to you for your upcoming treatment and remember, it's not being grumpy, it's venting - my workmates and I do it most lunch breaks!

I love your flowers, you are so good at capturing their beauty with a camera

Love the photos, the flowers are gorgeous. It is fine to grumble and I am sure once the treatment starts you will start to feel more positive. The waiting is always the worst part....xx

Have just popped in to catch up on your news and have only just found out about your tumour and treatment or I would have sent a comment sooner. Oh Maggie, I'm so sorry you're having to go through all this again. Feel free to grumble away on your blog and take strength from knowing that your followers are all wishing you well. WM x

You're entitled to a good grumble if you need it. Still, you're a beautiful, strong, survivor flower to me.

Maggie, you're as resilient as you flowers, m'dear, I'm quite sure. That succulent is astonishing - don't think I've ever seen such a luscious set of flowers on one...

Hi, Maggie. I think a little rant and moan does us the world of good!! I sure hope so because I do it a lot, lol.

I have just left a comment on your post previous to the last one, I think it was called The Battle Goes On - but do forgive me if I've got that wrong, my memory is useless.

Love CJ xx

Hello Maggie. Do grumble here as much as you like, we don't mind! Your plants are beautiful; they endure hardship and yet bounce back with wonderful flowers. As will you, I am sure of it. I am so sorry you are going through this and feel for you so much during this waiting time. Stay positive, think positive. You're in my thoughts. x

Dearest Maggie, I cannot imagine what it is like, going through all of this. Of course, you must grumble from time to time, why wouldn't you? We'll be right here to listen and keep you company, dear friend.

Your flower pictures are lovely. It's nice to see them enduring the heat.

How are the bunnies?
