Recently, we received two surprises within a couple of days. The first was a call from my nephew telling me to look forward to becoming a Great Aunt in October. The next day, we received a telephone call from our son, Sam, to say that he and Sandy had booked their wedding at the end of August.
It was good to receive some good news for a change.
When my granddaughters came round for breakfast the next day, we obviously started talking about the wedding and what we might all wear.
Amber, being a bit of a tom boy, said that she wanted to wear a suit and wouldn't wear a dress at any cost.
Millie wasn't sure what she wanted to wear and said she'd have to think about it.
I announced that I would soon be out looking for a suitable dress. Hearing that, Amber replied, "Oh, its far too early, Gran, you might get a sudden growth spurt by then."
I had a good laugh because the only growth spurt I might get is in width, not in height. Lets hope that doesn't happen. I will have to watch my chocolate consumption from now on.
Weddings are 'the' ultimate dress-up occasions. You will have to work on the kidlets.
Weddings and babies and dress shopping, oh my! Sounds like good times ahead!
What exciting news to look forward too! Kids are too funny! Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh happy day!!
I'm sooooo happy for Sam. That news simply MADE my weekend, Maggie.
Lovely positive news, we all need a good dose of that now and again.
I'm certainly at the other side of the crowd. I absolutely HATE dressing up, I wish all weddings were in either jeans or pyjamas.
Hey! there's an idea!
Well congrats!!! And dressing up can be fun!!
I am glad you got two pieces of good news, surely a third one will follow. Leave that chocolate alone and start looking for a dress a month before the wedding. That will give you ample time and you will get the right size. Unless you'd rather wear a suit.
This is great news. Happy dress shopping!
That's adorable. :) Congratulations on the great news. I'm very happy for you.
I looked for a dress for 3 or 4 months before my son's wedding and never did find one I absolutely loved -- so get to it as soon as you can! Are you already thinking about colors?
I agree with dianefaith. Get that one concern out of the way (will you have other responsibilities?). My daughter took me shopping—not the one getting married— and since I knew she only had one day, we got it done very quickly. Not perfect, but good enough.
Thanks for your kind wishes. I hope you and Harry will be in tip-top form on the big day.
Oh how wonderful! I'm so glad the news was so joyful this time Maggie. We all need that. :<)
How lovely that you have two happy events to look forward to. I laughed at your grandaughter's comment about you getting a growth spurt. LOL
Oh, how lovely to hear this good news!
Well, double congratulations are in order! Wonderful news!
Out of the mouth of babes! They never cease to surprise us. LOL!
How wonderful to have a new addition and a wedding in the same year!! Congrats to you and your family.
p.s. - it's so hard to cut back on chocolate!
That is absolutely wonderful news. Now that I have FINALLY become a "Nana" for the first time - baby Harper Ann ( the first girl in our family for eons ) was born April 14, I can't wait to experience her utterings which I am sure will be the source of much embarrassment and delight to me.
Hi Maggie, I'm over here now. Gave up on the new blogger and converted to wordpress. Well weddings are exciting to have in the pipeline and newborn babies are a joy and a tonic for everyone..not sure which one of is most stressful at the same time! ;) x
Out of the mouths of babes...:) So happy to hear your wonderful news! I agree with the other commenters--start shopping early for a dress. It took me months before I found one that I liked for my daughter's wedding.
Hehe, those growth spurts are not very welcome when you get to a certain age!!
Lovely to hear your good news.
